The hour grows close, the year near at an end.

It has, for pretty much everyone, been a nightmare.

Tragedy has struck many, loss has torn through.

Tempers have flared, friendships lost and despair a stalking assassin to us all.

Hope has seemed the rarest commodity.
But there are signs that the lowest point may have been reached.

There is some signs that our burdens can be conquered.

It is not going to be easy, or without pain - but it does look possible.

And those who have successfully lied for so long?
It seems their lies are finally catching up with them.

2021 has been a lesson. In whom to trust & whom to reject.

In the folly of faith without facts.

In the assumption that all have good intent somewhere.

Do not despair that evil exists. It always has.

You have both stated that "The vast majority of people in ICU are unvaccinated"

So, a few questions.

What are the ICU numbers? What percentage are unvaccinated? Are the ICU numbers increasing?
If the numbers are increasing, omicron is clearly not mild to the unvaccinated.

Which means children in particular are at risk - what are you doing about this?

Are you going to imminently introduce vaccination for the over 5's?
Or are you going to immediately roll out measures for schools?

What do you class as "unvaccinated"?

If 1 shot only is unvaccinated, the vast majority of 12 to 15 year olds are unvaccinated.

Is unvaccinated lacking a booster? Or being past booster benefit & into waning?

OK, clearly we are not shouting this loud enough.

The figures yesterday were from swabs on MONDAY

Omicron is doubling every 2 days - don't expect a downturn yet.
Problem 2.

The doubling time is different in different regions - and none of it is lengthy

Problem 3.

We will soon lose our ability to keep track as infections outstrip the ability to turn PCR's around - that would give a false peak.

There are a few interesting articles out today.

The first is this, which gives some hope that omicron MIGHT be less serious as it favours the bronchial tract rather than lung tissue.

On the downside is this, which appears to show vaccine efficacy is lower than many may think

Prof Colin has shown that the omicron cases today are following the path seen rather than massively lowering its doubling time.

Which still means it is doubling every 1.7 days though
