"Private gatherings prohibited." The cure is far worse than the disease. Unbelievable. Time for civil disobedience. globalnews.ca/news/8480611/c…
Do we care nothing for our liberties? "No private gatherings" with a near 80% vaccination rate? And a curfew?

Is there no excuse too small for the totalitarianism wannabes? What the hell is wrong with this country?
135 hospitalization and Quebec citizens are subjected to draconian measures. We are doing to our society exactly what cowardly professors already let happen to the universities.
Come on Montrealers! Have some courage! Defy these prohibitions!

The best way to teach people critical thinking is to teach them to write because there's no difference between that and thinking.
No one ever tells students why they should write something. "Well, why are you writing?" "Well, you need the grade." It's like, no!

You need to learn to think because thinking makes you act effectively in the world.
If you can think, and speak, and write, you are absolutely deadly. Nothing can get in your way.

Have some humility. Clean up your bedroom. Take care of your family. Follow your conscience. Straighten up your life.
Find something productive and interesting to do and commit to it. When you can do all that, find a bigger problem and try to solve that if you dare.
If that works, too, move on to even more ambitious projects. And, as the necessary beginning to that process… abandon ideology.

Strive towards what's better.

The modern idea is you're supposed to accept yourself. I think that's an insane idea - Really. I can't think of a more nihilistic idea than that... (thread)
"You're already okay".

No, you're not! And the reason you're not is that you could be way more than you are.
What do you want to be: do you want to be okay as you are, or do you want to strive towards what's better?

To treat yourself as if you were someone you are responsible for
helping is, instead, to consider what would be truly good for you.

This is not “what you want.” It is also not “what would make you
happy.” Image
You need to consider the future and think, “What might my life look like if I were caring for myself properly? What career would challenge me and render me productive and helpful, so that I could shoulder my share of the load, and enjoy the consequences?"
"What should I be doing, when I have some freedom, to improve my health, expand my knowledge, and strengthen my body?”
