9 Mistakes to avoid while growing rapidly on Twitter

1. Not Engaging

Twitter is a platform where you give and take

But give give give give and then take

Engage with other accounts, add more value to them

When your account is small follow 80% engagement and 20% tweet

If you regularly engage with at least 10-15 accounts I'm sure that account will start noticing you

I wasted my initial days just focusing on MY tweets, MY likes, MY comments

It didn't work well

2. Not Observing top accounts in my niche

I kept on thinking about what will work by doing multiple permutations and combinations

But the fact is if you follow top accounts or top tweets patterns and try to follow them you succeed faster

Understand how they tweet, how they engage

Fun fact, You will get a lot of tweet inspiration from them if you ever run out of ideas

3. Didn't Leverage DM

I never knew DM can do wonders in building a strong friendship and connection

I use to approach 0 people in DM when I started my journey

Today I offer my products for free to many of them in DM

Thank random people who engaged with my tweets

4. Kept Posting threads

When I had less than 500 followers I kept on posting threads

But the fact is no one will ever notice it as you don't have much following

Don't waste time on thread focus on small tweet formats and adding more value to top accounts

You will lose confidence if your threads don't perform well

You will give up easily when none of your efforts pays off

5. Not optimizing the Bio

Bio makes or breaks your profile

I had added random text before that didn't make sense to my audience

I use to get profile visits but no following

If you have more profile visits and fewer follow, it's time to A / B test your bio

Even today after having 24,000 following, I still A/B test my Bio

Bio plays a strong role to convert the profile visit into the following

Stay laser-focused while you write your bio, It will help the visitors

6. Waiting for tweets to go viral

This is the worst thing you can ever do while growing your audience

Guess what? If you are consistent there is ZERO chance you don't go viral

I have gone viral 4-5 times till now and true it brings 1000's followers

But you know what matters most?

Every single tweet, You are getting noticed by may every single day

Even if one person is getting inspired by your tweet, your purpose is already served

7. Have more expectation

I use to spend hours writing tweets and get less than 10 likes in return

I kept on expecting too much when I tweeted

But the fact is you can never control what's going to happen next

All you can do is post good content

Remember Twitter is never going to show all your tweets to all your followers

If you only tweet to gain followers, you will never be able to win on Twitter

8. Never spend time on Analytics

I never use to reuse my content which performed well

But the fact is you can write the same tweet in 10 different ways

Content repurposing comes to the rescue when you run out of ideas

I use to keep thinking of what to tweet when I already had the analytics to measure

Double down on what's working for you and cut down what isn't

The game of Twitter is that simple

9. Not being consistent

I use to tweet 20 times a day on some days and 0 on the other

Don't get stuck in this loop, tweet by keeping at least a gap of 1-2 hours

If you keep posting back to back tweets, your audience will leave you for spamming them

I had 1,000 followers in March 2021

In less than a year I will reach 25,000

Compounding happens faster than you think, until then keep going and trust the process
