I've interviewed over 340+ web developers.

Here are the 20 most common mistakes to avoid early in the web development career.

Roadmap to stand out from rest.

A thread🧵
1. Pick one language

There are lots of web development languages out there

But you need to take it easy and choose one

Master it before you jump to the other one
2. Understand the logic

It's natural to want to jump in headfirst when learning something new

It's okay to refer to Google for help - that's what it's therefor

But don't just mindlessly memorize things

Make sure you actually understand the concepts and ideas behind them
3. Watch online tutorials

Online videos have made learning significantly easier

Use online tutorials because

Enhances your skills dramatically

Can learn at your pace

Can learn it from multiple people across the globe

Gives you unlimited access

No time limit pressure
4. Create discipline

Block hours in your calendar to learn any new skill

Practice it every day

Consistency brings solid results
5. Practice, Practice, Practice!

Get your hands-on

Implement what you learn

Keep practicing umpteen times
6. Don't Quit

The beginning of the journey is tough.

You might feel that there are lots of challenges to face from the get-go

However, keep in mind to learn from your mistakes through trial and error

You'll quickly be picking up the new concepts!
7. KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid

Keep things simple, leverage libraries that help you make your job easier

Don't complicate things unnecessarily

Not every solution needs to be built from scratch, but keep a close eye on other packages and libraries
8. Learn soft skills in the process

Along with the web development knowledge, acquire soft skills as well

It helps you talk about your talent to the people

It also boosts your profile
9. Building a strong portfolio of projects

It's easier to get hired since the company uses your portfolio as evidence to make decisions about you

It shows off your skills and strengths to potential clients/employers

You can get a real idea about how much you have learned
10. Document Your Journey

Write, tweet, or create content around what you have learned

There are many people who are starting their journey today

You are definitely going to inspire & motivate them
11. Earn while you learn

I earned $750+ while learning about no-code tools.

Here is how you can earn your first $

It's going to give you real-world experience with a lot of insights.
12. Define small goals

Don't start it all together

Instead, take one thing at a time and break it into parts to learn and understand

The approach is the ultimate confidence booster

Set small goals for improving ability and productivity
13. There is no fixed path

Don't follow somebody else's path

Focus on your goal & draw your own path around it

Some things might not work for you which might have worked for others

Focus on whatever you have planned for instead of worrying about others
14. Be absolutely clear

Don't hesitate to ask even the smallest doubt to your mentors and friends

Remember, "Once a fool, always a fool."

You could be called a fool for your silly doubt today but you remain silly forever if you don't clear it today
15. Challenge yourself

Set the targets and challenge yourself to achieve

Keep a record or track of your improvement

Little improvements are significant over a long time
16. Build small applications

Building small applications will make your basics stronger immensely

The more small applications you build, the more powerful will be your foundation

You are unstoppable if you focus more on building examples to understand the concepts better
17. Refuse the negativity

Not all days are the same, some days you might feel like quitting as things might not be in your favor

Take a break and come back stronger

Remember developers never quit, there is always a workaround
18. No one is born an expert

Being an expert in a particular craft requires time, dedication, and most importantly consistent practice to master

If you’re determined to take up a new talent or hobby then remember: it will take years of hard work and practice to excel at it
19. Nothing works unless you do

Only reading documentation, Watching videos will take you nowhere

Implement what you have read and have a solid understanding

Practice makes a man perfect
20. Enjoy the journey, stop worrying about the destination.

Be in the present and enjoy the process

Put your best foot forward and rest will be taken care of

It's easier to learn with practice and a solid foundation

9 Mistakes to avoid while growing rapidly on Twitter

From my experience of building 24,000 Audience

A Thread 🧵
1. Not Engaging

Twitter is a platform where you give and take

But give give give give and then take

Engage with other accounts, add more value to them

When your account is small follow 80% engagement and 20% tweet
If you regularly engage with at least 10-15 accounts I'm sure that account will start noticing you

I wasted my initial days just focusing on MY tweets, MY likes, MY comments

It didn't work well
