Record-breaking heat on January 1st 2022, but no mention of abrupt climate change.

In fact, no mention of the climate-extinction catastrophe anywhere on the Guardian homepage.

In 2022!

Surely the Met Office mentioned abrupt climate change?!?

This four and a half minute video talks about remarkable and exceptionally mild weather, but no context or explanation is given. No mention of abrupt climate change.

3. This tweet links to a page where you can search weather extremes (with 'climate change' appearing in a heading at the top).

4. Journalists and editors are deliberately ignoring the context of climate-extinction catastrophe.

How do the Met Office communicate record temperatures to the media?

On Twitter climate change is ignored it seems.

The planet we think we're living on no longer exists.
State-corporate media are radically downplaying the most important story in human history.

The words 'abrupt climate change' are nowhere to be found. Even 'climate change' is relegated to paragraph 23 in many articles or missing entirely.

1.8-2C by 2035?

What is going through the minds of corporate journalists who remain silent despite knowing we're heading for horrific 1.6-2°C of global warming by the 2030s which will threaten billions of people?
How many of them know emergency degrowth action could delay 1.6C-2C?

We're heading for 1.5C in the 2020s and then 2C by around 2040 (give or take 9 years). 3C as early as 2048 is plausible.

Billions at risk by mid-century (or before).
