Some folks will call it dredging up old history and playing with old wounds, but some things need to be said aloud. Osama bin-Laden never committed any of the attacks al-Qaeda was behind. But he was the mouthpiece, planner and purported to be the leader of the spiritual movement.

Their goal was to bring down America and democracy.

With his express purpose being identical, Steve Bannon is bin-Laden. And, we are in the midst of an American-style Rightwing Jihad. I dare someone - anyone - to defy the laws of gravity here and tell me why I'm wrong.

That's exactly what he want's. But don't believe me. He's said so himself.

And, what is the difference between bin-Laden's video taped threat messages to America and Bannon's podcasts anyway? Why was one considered the ultimate threat to America, and the other just daily noise?

I suspect even though many folks may see Bannon as the mean, nasty, drunken, unkept neighbor who lives down the block (because many of us have neighbors who look talk and act just like him), but because he's a white guy in America, surely he can't be hell bent on its destruction.

But probably the worst effect of all of white privilege is while it denies white supremacy in its self-view, it's blinded to white supremacy in others to because of the tendency to impute positive associations to people who look like them no matter how evil they are or may be.

Like some parents can never see when their kids do wrong so delinquent kids take advantage, white supremacy counts on that blind spot and denial in order to hide in plain sight. The consequences of that dereliction and negligence are deadly and we wind up with things like 1/6.

The sooner folks stop sugarcoating it, pretending it something it's not, call it out for the real domestic terrorism that it is - and recognize the leaders of this movement for who and what they really are - the sooner we can commit to doing what we need to do to get rid of it.
