Rupert Murdoch’s @newscorpaus is fighting against a Royal Commission into media ownership (and political influence), claiming it is a ‘witch-hunt’.

However a look at today’s headlines from @australian show it is anything but.

#MurdochRoyalCommission
Todays story’s have the following subtexts:
1. China is a bad totalitarian Govt than even harms Aust share prices (not mentioning the boom they created for the past 20 years).

2. Renewables are bad. And Zero Emissions targets cause ruin for countries who adopt them (No evidence)
3. ‘COVID Crisis will soon be over’

4. The PM is a ‘calming influence’ and cutting through the ‘BS’ on COVID numbers.

5. These two likeable ‘Aussie Farmer Couple’ were Saved by the LNP Govts bailout plan. (Don’t mention ‘Hawaii’ or ‘Black Summer’)
6. The AUKUS Nuclear Subs deal is ‘great’ and has China ‘rattled’ (nice sporting analogy. For nuclear war).

7. China’s a Bully. Other countries think so too (someone in Lithuania) .

8. Biden is a gateway drug for a ‘Communist Takeover of the US (told you so!)
9. Aust we greatly benefit from a Defence Pact with Japan than the LNP created, cos they hate China too.

10. Bloody Unions mean hard working tradies get less money (no mention of the abomination that is the Fair Work Act, or what Aust would look like without Unions)
11. Albo is a joke and doesn’t know what he is talking about. His promises are all ‘illusory’. And involve death. And scary things like ghosts.

12. The economy is actually booming! Not only is this farmer rolling in it, but banks profits soar!

13 ‘How great is (LNP) Australia !
In the same way that it is a mistake for the US Govt to try to crush all dissent, rather than be open, and learn from criticism, Murdoch’s complete refusal to stop political meddling could be his downfall.

Perhaps neither of them is capable of compromise.
Who can blame those in the ‘Global South’ for thinking the West is simply a vehicle for profits and propaganda?

Why would you do if you were them?

Are Murdoch and the US taking us down the right path?

For them, maybe. For our children? I’m not so sure.

PS: Arise Sir Tony!

In 2006 Defence senior leadership rewrote a patrol report that said BRS killed an unarmed teenager (over objections from fellow SAS patrol members).

The boy, moving away from the position, became ‘an anti-coalition militia force trying to outflank the SAS patrol’

Marles must… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
“The most scathing part of the complaint is not aimed at Roberts-Smith, though, who had nothing to do with writing the citation, but the unnamed senior officers who compiled it.”

People complained about BRS long before 2017. His MG citation (some say his VC also) were embellished beyond recognition.

That at least was not his doing.

I challenge Defence to come clean as to who was responsible, and explain what action has been taken against them.

The BRS ‘phenomenon’ didn’t occur in a vacuum, much as Defence will try to pretend it did.

Everything they say and do is based not on what is true, or good for Aust, but what is good for them, and the Minister.

The Subs are Duds. We need a #DefenceRC urgently before the next… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
As one of the SAS withesses in the BRS case said, it’s well known, that medals are given out as a ‘political feel good’ event.
Donaldson was probably the exception, but once they saw the goodwill that flowed towards the leadership (and pollies) they got addicted to it.
One of the key pieces of evidence from the BRS trial, was that he wasn’t at the top of the short-list for the VC, but was elevated to the top by the staffers of the Minister. He was media ‘gold’, and they wanted him, because he bought them kudos. It’s seems incredibly cynical.… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

The big question that will sink David Hurley and Stephen Smith is this: if you didn’t hear the rumours about BRS in 2012, why did you change the RoE and start talking about ‘murder’ charges?

Nothing else happened in 2012. No criminal investigations started.
Hastie complained.
It will be hilarious to see what the Defence Dept try to remove from the ‘open’ BRS judgement today.

I’m betting it’s anything that suggests they promoted him over others, ignored complaints against him, or had warnings.

That is anything that could be seen as blaming them.
The Defence Dept are quite shameless in how they pretend things that harm the Min’s or CDF’s reputation, are somehow ‘national security’.

It would be nice to see a few more journos question the definition. But of course they can’t really because… it’s ‘Nat Sec’.

But is it?

With all the ‘drones’ in the air that have provided footage it seems ridiculous.
At the same time they start cracking down after BRS has ‘left the building’ in 2012.
Chris Masters was embedded with SOTG. He clearly knew.
But apparently the Generals ‘knew absolutely nothing’ 🤔.
It’s very convenient that they only heard the rumours in about 2015, long after they’d withdrawn, and then from a Canberra ‘sociologist’, who’s on the Govt payroll.

It’s just a coincidence that delay helped the US war effort.

Even though Hastie complained

I was ‘inconvenient’
In ‘No Front Line’ Chris Masters states he saw drone footage of a soldier being ‘blown over a wall’ in 2012.

That proves all Ops were filmed.

Why didn’t they question things that Brereton has since called ‘likely murders’?

The Generals either knew, or were totally incompetent

Defence: ‘Evidence that could show the Gen David Hurley covered up war crimes must be kept secret from the public because it’s release could ‘greater endanger our National Security’. !?

For ‘National Security’ read ‘job security’.

I didn’t lose the Afghan war. @rodrigoac7
ASIS says: “Revealing that we helped overthrow a democratically elected popular leftist Govt, and replaced it with a Dictatorship that murdered thousands, committing Crimes against Humanity; would endanger ‘national security’

Read: shows ASIS prefers dictatorships over democracy
ASISs overthrow of Allende, to install Pinochet, a byword for everything that Aust should be fighting against, sums them up.

They fight against democracy, both home and abroad. And they try to hide it.
