🧵 “Marcie Parker, VDOT's Fredericksburg Dist. engineer, said the agency was overwhelmed by snowfall rates during the storm.
‘I do believe VDOT was prepared for this storm but anticipated snowfall rates were faster than anticipated. We got more snow than initially predicted &
‘the rate was harder…Pretty much when it gets over an inch an hour, we have a hard time keeping up.’
Though the storm was forecast well in advance, it started with rain and VDOT did not pretreat I-95.
‘It would have just washed away any pretreatment,’ Parker said.
A former VDOT resident engineer…[said] the situation on I-95 was avoidable. The engineer said that even if roads could not have been pretreated, trucks carrying salt &sand could have been pre-positioned to treat the highway &melt snow and ice as soon as it began to accumulate.

these seems more reasonable: “Israel is proposing a list of demands, including dismantling of all advanced centrifuges, converting uranium enriched to 60 percent after the U.S. withdrew from the agreement in 2018 back to 20 percent, & establishing stricter inspection mechanisms”

is there a more tragic character on the morning show than the meteorologist.
there have been other tv dramas that wrote in the pandemic, but something about the morning show being about the news, and seeing history just two years ago when there are early signs, but they don’t know how big it is going to be, is really eerie.
