🧵 I don't think a lot of self-proclaimed communists understand or appreciate the fine line legitimate Marxists inside the US have to walk when addressing situations like what's taking place in #Kazakistan right now...
The most important thing is to not allow your emotions to cloud your judgement, to not allow either idealism or empiricism to take precedence over a material observation and analysis of the ever-evolving conditions there. Dialectical materialism matters here more than ever...
One mistake I've noticed is in the assumption that the uprising spontaneously emerged from gas price hikes, which naturally sparks skepticism because gas price hikes occur elsewhere without uprisings emerging in response. 1) No two country's conditions are alike...
And 2) the gas price hikes were more like the final straw that broke the camel's back. The amount of poverty and oppression that the Kazakh poor and working class have been subjected to by the bourgeois Tokayev-led govt (and those that came before them) are undeniable...
On the other hand, with the Communist Party of Kazakhstan (QKP) being outlawed (alongside the Trotskyist party Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan), the main legally organized parties and orgs involved in this uprising are bourgeois in nature...
Especially concerning given the involvement of the right-wing Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan (QDT), which is led by fugitive billionaire Mukhtar Ablyazov, who's still wanted for embezzlement. No one should be under the illusion they represent the interests of Kazakh poor...
We should also be honest regarding the fact that Western imperialists are being quite forthright in their support of the uprising as well. From the EU to the US, the Tokayev-led govt has been a thorn to their side as Kazakhstan makes allies out of Russia and China...
Couple this with the fact that CIA-mirror orgs like the NGO National Endowment for Democracy (NED) have been funnelling money into bourgeois opposition parties and orgs throughout the country, the QDT being one of the likely recipients ned.org/region/eurasia…
I mention all this because while the uprising did emerge from legitimate concerns and grievances by the country's poor and working class, communists on the ground have noted just how disorganized the uprising really is, with power grabs from multiple sides mlyn.by/novosti/2022/0…
Each side aiming to vie for power have similar demands, from the resignation of the current government to the release of all political prisoners. The difference, however, is the bourgeois side is demanding for mass privatization, while socs/coms demand mass nationalization...
The Trotskyist party Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan has called for international support of the uprising, and included in their demands their party's legalization and the legalization of the Communist Party (QKP)... idcommunism.com/2022/01/statem…
It should be noted that the QKP have yet to make a statement themselves on the situation and would ask for everyone interested into what's going on to patiently wait for their take on the matter...
But with all of this weighed in, how should communists in the US—inside the belly of the beast—respond? Again, everything is ever-evolving as more facts and information come in on the situation. All we can go by are the material facts at the time...
Those facts being:

1. The concerns and grievances of Kazakh poor and working class are legitimate;
2. The uprising itself is still highly disorganized; and
3. Western imperialists and local bourgeois opportunists are taking advantage of that disorganization...
With that in mind, the most disciplined response that US communists can provide rn is to continue laying out the material facts as they come in and to demand that US imperialists and their allies to keep their greedy claws out of Kazakhstan! vacpusa.org/2022/01/05/sta…

1/6 It's interesting seeing older Americans go into a rage against single-payer #healthcare considering the United States already has a form of single-payer, only an extremely limited, shittier version.
2/6 Boomers complain that they don't want their money to be used to provide other people medical care—that they want their money to go to their own care—but that's *exactly* what they're doing when purchasing private health insurance.
3/6 When you purchase an insurance plan, your money is being collected by that insurance company in order to provide coverage for everyone under their network.
