1/6 It's interesting seeing older Americans go into a rage against single-payer #healthcare considering the United States already has a form of single-payer, only an extremely limited, shittier version.
2/6 Boomers complain that they don't want their money to be used to provide other people medical care—that they want their money to go to their own care—but that's *exactly* what they're doing when purchasing private health insurance.
3/6 When you purchase an insurance plan, your money is being collected by that insurance company in order to provide coverage for everyone under their network.
4/6 The problem is that private insurance companies are disproportionately dividing all of that money to provide *some* coverage to the people needing medical care, while a large sum is going into the pockets of those that run the insurance companies, politicians, lobbyists, etc.
5/6 All of that money that could be going to medical coverage is, instead, going to people that don't even need it. All @BernieSanders is wanting to do is cut out the middleman—the private insurance companies that are stealing your money and thus your much-needed medical coverage
@BernieSanders 6/6 This would then ensure that everyone receives the coverage and treatments they need. He's wanting to make our single-payer system that much more efficient, that much more productive. That's it!
