The Charles Koch Foundation & Charles Koch Institute gave $89.7 million to academic centers, colleges, & universities in the US and abroad in 2020, CMD calculated. The total is less than the over $100 million Koch doled out for higher ed in 2019.

SCOOP: GOP Megadonor & Trumper Dick Uihlein’s foundation distributed $17.6 million in grants in 2020, its latest IRS filing obtained by CMD details. The largest grant of $3 mil went to the SPN affiliate in Florida: Foundation for Government Accountability.

The next largest grants from Uihlein were to Illinois’s SPN affiliate Illinois Policy ($2.2 mil) and to the Conservative Partnership Institute ($1.25 mil). CPI was founded by Jim DeMint and has Trump loyalists Mark Meadows and Cleta Mitchell on staff.
Uihlein also contributed large grants to right-wing media Including to $750,000 to the publisher of The Federalist, $300,000 to the Media Research Center, and $1 mil to the Real Clear Foundation. All these grants are up on @sourcewatch

NEW: Spurred by $158 million from one secret donor, DonorsTrust and Donors Capital Fund pumped over $137 million into right-wing campaigns to remake the Supreme Court, spread election and climate disinformation, and support extremists in 2020.

DT and DCF gave $60.2 million to legal litigation centers, advocacy groups promoting right-wing judges, & amicus organizers in 2020, CMD calculated. The largest recipient was Leonard Leo‘s The 85 Fund, formerly the Judicial Education Project, which received $48.7 million.
DonorsTrust and Donors Capital Fund contributed $51.4 million to national and state level policy and advocacy tax-exempt organizations that make up the national right-wing infrastructure strategically built and maintained by Charles Koch and the Bradley Foundation.

NEW: An “Academy” for state lawmakers on voter suppression strategies run by ALEC in July featured a veritable who’s who of the right-wing leaders behind this year’s disinformation campaign about voter fraud & assaults on voting rights across the country.
