Vision: all of my thoughts and readings are well indexed, and show up in backlinks where you'd expect them.
Actual case (10 min ago): Hm, this reminds me of the memory researchers who compared showing someone many paintings by the same painter, vs paintings by different painters

That was from a really interesting podcast, I remember I took copious notes. I also remember which street I was on, and what the weather was like, when I listened!

But why isn't it showing up in my [[memory]] backlinks? I don't have that many...

Which podcast was it? I heard about that podcast on another podcast, called Oli something... ah, @ollie_lovell , and the podcast was @mrbartonmaths "Mr Barton Math Podcast".

Still don't find it in backlinks? But search gives a hint.

So how come I can't find my notes? Could it be that I never imported from Otter?

Yep, through search I find my notes. Now to schedule importing them.

The real world is messier than perfect videos where everything is nicely tagged etc. But on the upside - I remembered that this existed (because I spent time stopping, reading notes into Otter etc), and I did manage to find it within 1-2 minutes.

And now I can add an explicit link, making sure this is resurfaced next time, even if I don't remember it.

(Would be really cool to embed more metadata like weather, GPS, context when searching for stuff).

And interestingly, I'm now taking notes on "encoding specificity", the idea that if you study while slightly drunk, you should take your exam slightly drunk etc.

Interesting however that I didn't need to be in a snowy street in my former city to remember something -

instead, I remembered which snowy street I was in better than the name of the podcast/author etc, and could potentially use that fact to look up the information.
