the costume designer in me could rant about this single screencap for hours

like this is a great example of how what makes one person attractive does not fit the other she got the broad strokes of maddie but not the finer nuances

maddies top looks to be a single button or hoop of sum sort perfect for the fact tht she has a smaller bust and it forms around her figure nicely bc it flatters her

cassie cant quite shake her ingenue girl next door look hence the ruching which is common in her wardrobe even the color isnt far from her color palette of baby blues and pinks she tries to go for a more daring maddie esque color but cant quite commit

its also worth noting that cassie and maddie have very similar color palettes likely due to being close friends and having similar interests while maddie does lavenders and baby blues in her everyday wear cassie is baby pinks and whites and blues

back to the details of the top since cassie has a larger bust her shoulders are broader and look suffocated in that top compared to when she wears puffier sleeves or looser fabrics and spaghetti straps. she goes for an almost corset like top bc it flatters her

with the makeup and hair its a prime example of not having It to pull it off cassie looks best in natural makeup and simple hair bc she has a very doll like face w huge eyes taking up most her face whereas maddie has large eyes but theyre less rounded and more almond

meanin she can take the graphic liner and the catlike looks more especially bc her eye color is darker

cassie has a perpetual wave to her hair making it hard for her to do the sleek looks also bc she doesn’t have the confidence to do so. she has a habit of taking on the persona of what she thinks will attract whosever shes with or after

re: girl next door for mckay and hot girl for nate but shes closer to the wide eyed ingenue than maddies cool girl

i rewatched this clip and they even made it so cassie just slicked down her front layers and pulled em to the front instead of baby hairs even more proof she couldnt fully commit to maddies look

like maddie havin acrylics vs cassie havin natural nails so many small details

they even included the fact tht her lashes are probably wonky/too big for her face and she went for a maddie-esque lip color but it kinda just looks flat on her

in season 1 we see them wearing very similar colors but they style themselves drastically different they always look like a unit without being matchy if ones wearing the blue the other will almost always wear white pink or lavender
