sex worker fashion in media will always be interesting bc theres a clear cut difference between their civilian self and their SW self like cam did a p good job w that her everyday life is relatively safe colors and denim with hoodies and tube tops
but shes soooo glam in her sw persona which makes sense shes putting on a show she’s basically an actress and they include more texture like lace and vinyl
the vinyl especially is a great choice bc its shiny it’s reflective you wanna touch it whereas with leather its a bit rougher its more masculine its not as visually appealing in her setup with the lights especially the light of her screen
she also favors lamé which is often considered a kinda like tacky fabric? its in the same wheelhouse and vinyl in that ur seen as trashy for wearing it which again makes sense for her profession as (some) SWers often perform femininity to its extreme
her color palette also completely changes from yellows blues and greys to lush purples reds and fuchsias and a few bits of baby pink these colors especially in the setting of her room evoke carnal feelings even the oranges are creamsicle orange like a dessert
her whites are much much brighter as “lola” and i wont begin to unpack why pure bright whites are seen as sexy thats a whole other ballgame
theres also “real” lola vs “fake” lola. real lola purposely feels untouchable theres a wall between her and her viewers tht she puts up for her safety her outfits are less tailored and look more like she got it just bc its in her size and she knows her viewers will eat it up
but ofc its not enough and thts why her viewers are easily swayed by princess
fake lola goes all out the makeup the hair its all done to perfection she looks like a pin up doll even her outfit fits closer to her body and the inclusion of hearts shows how fake lola crosses real lolas boundries theres no wall between her and the viewer she loves them now

also goths gonna be real mad at me when i say this but bc of film goth is now a fashion subculture as well as music and this has been happening consistently since the 90s with the goth character archetype metal and punk can still be considered music subcultures bc they didnt
have this shift the way goth did many goth characters dont have any outward connection with goth music like stokely from the faculty
goth became shorthand for the outcast or the loner or the weirdo it was signified by clothing slicked back hair heavy black liner/eyeshadow spiked chokers black clothing heavy boots like thwse characters rarely had anything to do with music and never even listened to it
cassie and maddy are a unit! thats why they often exist in the same color family but while cassie is girl next door maddy is the cool girl
ppl who have had best friends since childhood will often be so close they’re one person they’re indistinguishable from each other and thats normal. you shop at the same places u watch the same shows u listen to the same music bc you’ve bonded
so therefore cassie and maddy existing in the same color family is kinda obvious they just style themselves differently bc they have different motives and backgrounds
maddies new years outfit is kind of am elevated version of her carnival outfit actually shes done with nate shes looking to have a good time shes in the stage of a breakup where shes more confident than she was and is looking to provoke nate she wants everyone to see
how hot she is without him and she kinda elevated the sexiness of the outfit the last one was a crop top w cut out pants which us more obvious and in line w what teenage girls wear to push the envelope her midriff is exposed her tops basically a bra
the cutout on the hips exposes that theres so muck skin exposed it feels obvious and it makes sense she wanted to exert her dominance over nate bc she knew he would hate it and they dyed it purple so that 1. its more visually interesting and 2. fits her color palette
the costume designer in me could rant about this single screencap for hours
like this is a great example of how what makes one person attractive does not fit the other she got the broad strokes of maddie but not the finer nuances
maddies top looks to be a single button or hoop of sum sort perfect for the fact tht she has a smaller bust and it forms around her figure nicely bc it flatters her
