cassie and maddy are a unit! thats why they often exist in the same color family but while cassie is girl next door maddy is the cool girl

ppl who have had best friends since childhood will often be so close they’re one person they’re indistinguishable from each other and thats normal. you shop at the same places u watch the same shows u listen to the same music bc you’ve bonded

so therefore cassie and maddy existing in the same color family is kinda obvious they just style themselves differently bc they have different motives and backgrounds

maddy was a pageant girl. she grew up in the world of glitz and glamour and artifice and its not a stretch to say she was doing majority of her own makeup lots of pageant girls do u can see this is where she got most of her confidence and daring from

notice she wears purple in the first picture

but after the scandal she was forced to quit and like she said realized she likes doing nothing it gave her more time to practice her makeup and look at the colors she wears: baby blue

baby blue is a way to code innocence without being too on the nose with like white

soft colors like baby blue white and baby pink were also very popular colors in the early to mid 00s which is when they (and I) grew up and i can relate a lot to young maddy i sat im front of the tv and did nothing

given what we know abt her its not a stretch to say she watched lots of music videos and reality tv which is the 00s kids bread and butter and id bet some of them was kimoras life in the fab lane and my super sweet 16

the reason i say this is bc she came from a world of artifice and so shes drawn to it. maddy gets whatever she wants look at her bedroom compared to the rest of the house

now bringin me back to her color palette maddy is a girl who grew up watching shows about glamourous women we see her as a child wanting to be the woman getting her feet scrubbed NOT the foot scrubber

so shes drawn to bubblegum softness of the early 00s pinks purples and blues lots of velour hoop earrings etc she’s becoming who she always aspired to be

maddie was the girl who probably wanted to be regina and not cady. she accomplished that. she uses these colors to proclaim her femininity shes able to switch from the delicate vulnerable girlfriend for nate to the cool girl for her friends shes the unofficial ring leader

cassie is the other side of the spectrum she uses her femininity less as a shield and more as protection lots of it stems from being sexualized at an early age and her dad’s addiction she tries to protect herself by affecting innocent

its like some part of her is stunted almost and shes trying to soothe that (a slightly younger cassie wearing a baby blue graphic tee. notice the stitching something commonly seen in childrens clothing)

cassie also came from a performer background (ice skating) but was forced to quit early something else linking her to maddy (wouldnt be surprised if maddy helped w the makeup) again wearing the baby blue

as she grows up she sticks to blues and pinks to solidify her femininity she looks cute and approachable whereas maddy doesnt shes the one u talk to first to try and get in the group

if maddys in purple cassie is often in pink or white. notice the makeup as well maddy has gone all out the pageant girl never left her cassie however has resigned to the fact that shes just gonna be a normal girl at the end of the day prob why she’s always tryna attract a bf

her tendency to wear pinks over maddys purples also show their confidence and power imbalance. purple is the color of royalty and inspires confidence. pink in its negative state represents lack of willpower and self worth.

regardless cassie and maddie will always work together as a unit they always compliment each other’s silhouettes and color palette maddies the glamour girl to cassies down to earth persona they balance each other so neither goes too far off the end

its why this split will be so devastating. who are they without each other to balance the other out who are once they’re forced to not be a unit but to clash (one sided or not) friendship breakups are painful and this one definitely will be
