Statistics Canada is doing a pilot study of a mobile-device-based wellbeing-survey and they're recruiting respondents through the Very Scientific method of.... emailing everyone who's ever emailed their technical support desk.

Extremely strong selection there for "disgruntled data analysts" so that's gonna be a WILD pilot study.

I have of course signed up and downloaded the app and am PSYCHED to be a respondent in another survey.

I'm a longitudinal panelist in two surveys, I've gotten ACS AND CPS (!!), and I'm a standing panelist in multiple "big survey company" databases, and because I very reliably take the surveys, my personal traits are wildly overrepresented in studies of Americans.

Basically if you've used any data from Gallup or Qualtrics in the last 4 years, you used a response from me. I take *all* the surveys.

And I actively seek out ways to wriggle my way into survey databases. Still working on a few high value targets I'd like to get into!

But really there's no better way to learn about survey methods and what works and what doesn't than just participating in huge volumes of surveys from various companies on a wide range of topics.

Anyways the reason I know how Statistics Canada recruited is I've contacted their technical support folks on multiple email addresses and I got invitations on both. Only gonna use one (though, uh, TEMPTATION, wow), but still seems like that's their sampling frame.
