Today is when @MoonbeamNetwork launches in full. The Sudo shackles come off, the EVM switch is flipped, and the floodgates open. Here is a thread about why this is extra exciting, and why it is fundamentally different from what @MoonriverNW does.

Many people, me included, see @kusamanetwork as the "people's chain" and @polkadot as the VC chain. Not wrong. The vast majority of financially controlling interest is indeed in Polkadot and not exactly distributed. By that logic, @moonrivernw wins, right? Well, it's not a fight.

Moonriver is not just a testing ground for Moonbeam projects, it is a home to many just like Moonbeam will be to many others. And with the multi-chain future of Dotsama coming to fruition, we are the precipice of Dotsama's Big Bang.

Moonbeam's launch marks something special. It marks several specials: proof of parachain utility, proof of Substrate superiority, proof of XCM viability, and the importance of branding. Let's go through them.

Proof of parachain utility: Moonbeam's launch in a production environment brings into reality the very first useful and usable parachain with a wealth of projects lined up to launch on it. It makes the parachain vision a reality, sobering up everyone to a new L1, bringing us to..

Proof of Substrate superiority: by demonstrating that a scalable and fully fledged Ethereum alternative can run on top of @substrate_io while also being Proof of Stake **AND** having on-chain governance - something Ethereum can only dream of - Moonbeam tilted the scales for good.

Proof of XCM viability: the vision of Dotsama is coming to fruition. With channels being opened on Kusama between Statemine and Moonriver, the blueprints are there to do the same with Statemint and Moonbeam and other chains.

Not only that, but once the channel between Kusama and Polkadot is opened, true cross-chain message passing will automatically come into effect, allowing such tokens like @rmrkapp to seamlessly flow from chain universe to chain universe.

Finally, the issue of branding. People just care more about the Polkadot brand. It's popular, it's hyped, it's been under development for a while, and you have this ecosystem's staple - branding - combined with something rare - shipping - you get a killer combo.

And ship they did. This killer combo has forkless upgrades (being able to update a chain by merely uploading a new WASM file), PoS, AND on-chain governance. This is a tech combo stronger on launch day than any of the other L1 eth alternatives NOW, and it just started.

I am super duper hyped about Moonbeam and I expect it to become the new home to hundreds of projects in the near future - some well known on Eth 🤫 But most of all, I am stoked about bringing the most advanced NFT standard, @rmrkapp, to it. We're about to conquer the world 🤘
