Struggling to finish a task? Break them into smaller pieces. Right??
Let's have an eg.
You need to apply to study abroad but you are overwhelmed on what to do or where to start from because there's so much information online and everyone is saying something different or similar.
Step 1 :
Decide on what to study or which options are available for you. Google is your best friend. Eg . βGraduate programs options for Biology majorβ
Don't take this on the surface value. This information gives you an idea of what could be possible.
Your biology degree may not however allow you to shift into some of these fields. Out of the various options you may get, shortlist to about 4 or 5 areas that interest you. (PS: Itβs important you identify the career paths that this program would land you into!
Don't spend huge time and effort studying something that may not have alot of career prospects)
Now you have something that interest you? What next?
Step 2 :
Research into those areas to actually find out if that's an area that really interest you. From this research you can decide to shortlist or not.
Now you know what to do. Here comes the school search. Let's assume you decided to go with environmental science?
Step 3 :
Find universities that offer environmental science. Do you know the country you want to go? First start large and narrow down. We go back to out best friend βGoogleβ. The search now is βMasters program in Environmental science β. It gives you some options on
countries which offer your area of interest.
Search again for βMasters program in Environmental science in Australia (or any country) of your choiceβ.
Step 4 :
Once you find the universities of interest, visit their program website and find the eligibility criteria and list of documents needed. Write them down with deadlines. Search on the university websites for available scholarships.
Step 5 :
Collate all the documents needed.
Step 6 :
Apply for the program and scholarship if separate.
Voila! That's how you broke that big insurmountable task into smaller pieces.
