Hi folks! So yep, Celeste Liddle here taking over the reins on IndigenousX for the next week. Before I start anything though, can we just get a hand for the previous host @JennettaQB for her wonderful work? Brilliant stuff 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

A bit about me then is probably warranted. I'm an Arrernte woman & I returned from my first visit back to country in three years (after many lockdown postponements) just yesterday. Hence the profile pic at Simpson's Gap and the hat because it was 41 degrees. I've missed it a lot

I live on Wurundjeri Country here in the northern suburbs of Melbourne but was born on Ngunnawal Country and lived there until I was nearly 14 like a number of kids of Arrernte public servants who worked in the capital in the 70s & 80s. I've lived in my current area for 22 years

Right, where was I? Ah yeah, dad's side of the family. I'm the granddaughter of Harold Liddle and Emily Perkins Liddle. I'm Arrernte three ways through my great grandparents and so the best way to describe my ancestral lands are central, east & SE

As for mum's side of the family, they're non-Indigenous. One line were survivors of the Sacramento shipwreck. Mum's side have lived in so-called Victoria for generations & I best describe them as "Old Collingwood supporters". Long lines of tradies etc. smh.com.au/lifestyle/life…

I've been a union organiser for over a decade. Prior to that, I worked in higher education, mainly in Indigenous student support but also giving the odd lecture. I have an honours degree from La Trobe, a grad dip from UniMelb & a Masters from Monash

I'm a member of @withMEAA and the @ASUnion. I've been an opinion writer and social commentator also for over a decade and got my start when my now defunct blog Rantings of an Aboriginal Feminist was read by an editor. I'd like to think my writing has developed since then.

Over the years, I have written a lot on racism, sexism, sovereignty, Invasion Day, "Australian culture" & how it's predicated on incredibly false imagery which can be traced back to the initial whitewashing via "terra nullius", domestic & family violence, and community activism.

In my "spare time", I am an avid gig goer and tend to be seen most at local punk & hardcore gigs here in Melbs. Speaking of which, check out this sweet Southeast Desert Metal tshirt which arrived whilst I was up north. The rainmaker described in this song is one of my ancestors!

I'm 43, oldest of 4, aunty of 3 (plus one dog), human of one other dog, and member of an incredibly large extended family. I am often asked if I am related to "such-and-such Liddle" & the answer is always yes. Nanna's side was equally large so I am related to half of Central Aust

Finally though, as is in my bio, I am the Greens candidate for the seat of Cooper in the upcoming fed election. I always said I would never run for politics so you can see what changed that via the below thread which I wrote after being piled on for weeks
