Am an exporter of Avocado. Kenya has stopped harvest and export of Kenyan Avocado. Below is a thread of how Govt institutions contribute to a bad economy, business downfall and poverty. And its agnst Govt mandate to facilitate Trade @WilliamsRuto @rigathi @HonMoses_Kuria
We imported Avocado from Tanzania, for reexport. We do that when our season is closed. All docs are in order. Every regulatory requirement by HCD(Horticulture Crop Directorate) followed. Processed the fruits at our Packhouse and requested HCD to come, inspect and clear for export
Request for inspection was made on Saturday, HCD came in today. 25,000 Kgs of Avocados were inspected, analyzed and cleared for export. Our request was to be cleared for export Bysea through @Maersk which costs around $9,000 all in from our Packhouse to Destination

It is with profound sadness and shock that I share my thoughts and feelings about the recent passing of Irene Cara. Life is so fragile and it seems to move so quickly… Irene’s passing feels like a wake up call to “Do what you love!” And to “Do it now!”
@Irene_Cara
#RestInPeace
2. The first time I saw Irene on screen was in the film Sparkle, in 1976. I was 12 years-old. I watched the film at the Edison movie theater on 103rd and Bdway in Manhattan. This was the type of movie theater where people talked to the screen, so it was loud, visceral and alive.
3. I was taken in by the film and the magic of Lonette McKee’s work, and then the incredible talent of Irene Cara. Her singing and honesty in her work as an actress was captivating and so fully present in the moment, she lit up the screen.

Today I was driving in the NE in and around the neighbourhoods when I was about to turn around and head home when I saw someone flag me down.

A older gentleman and his girlfriend asked me if I had any water or anything to eat. @cmcalgary
I pulled over, put my flashers on. I got out to grab them some water and snacks and saw the older gentleman limping & in obvious pain.

When I say hobbling I mean every few steps he stopped to catch his breath because he was in so much pain.

That’s when I said I’d come to them.
I grabbed some bottles of water, snacks, some backpacks, and asked them if they needed anything else.

He told me his bandages had dried to his skin and that he was refused care at a place here in Calgary when he asked for a dressing change.

#SpeciallyAbledChild #Mentalhealth Writing this thread against the backdrop of a very tragic event where a dentist mom threw her specially abled child from the 4th floor and the child died. My sympathies to the entire family. We don't know what made her take that extreme step.
Let me share a life experience from the other end of the spectrum and it's a tribute to them. My father-in-law's cousin gave birth to a daughter, who on account of various reasons, was born where she needed help with her daily activities. She can't stand and her hands are bent.
Both the parents, especially the mother, took it as a challenge and treated the daughter as a normal one. From a small age, this girl could move only in a wheelchair. This girl also took on the challenge gamely. #optimism #positivity #Grateful

Thanks to Cheryl & Scott from London, Ontario for restoring my faith in people. Sat next to them today on my flight from YVR to Toronto. Upon arrival I found out that @WestJet had cancelled my connecting flight to London (not surprised with what went on today but still 🤬)…
I asked if they were on that same canceled flight that was rescheduled for tomorrow morning (again 😡) & they said no, they were driving home to London. Then they asked me if I wanted to ride with them instead of staying the night in Toronto.
I didn’t know what to say…
I was speechless. Two people, strangers until today, who I spoke with for just a few minutes on a 4 hour flight offering me, a complete stranger, a ride with them to London so I didn’t have to go through the hassle of staying in T.O. & flying out tomorrow…

I haven’t been to any college, and after failing in 11th class I never went for formal qualification.

When I thought of taking technical education at Pusa Polytechnic, I again failed. Which made me a 10th pass person, or school dropout (sounds cool these days). ImageImageImageImage
But since childhood, I have been blessed with Gurus like Shamona Ma’am, VP Singh Sir, Madhu Ma’am, Rashmi Ma’am, Joel Sir, Indrani Ma’am and so many which can’t be named.

Today on Guru Poornima day, I got an opportunity to teach 5000+ students in Dhule district to address. ImageImage
Which included those who passed 11th class, that means I was sharing knowledge to more qualified people than me.

It happened just because there were gurus in my life who taught me beyond books and I earned wisdom which I am sharing with thousands. Image

9 samurai tips to feel happy from now and for the rest of your life:
🧵💯
1) be yourself,
the cost of trying to be someone else is very much,
discover your #strong_points and work on them, they are your military equipment, take care of them.
2) keep #learning and #unlearning!
Always try to catch new experiences and ideas. Sometimes to learn new things you should unlearn the old things, don't be biased, keep yourself curious and excited about life.

Just to let y'all know. the person I replied to in these tweets has blocked me. I tried to verify his claim to be a priest & found he'd attempted marriage. It's an identical situation to this: catholicworldreport.com/2018/07/12/onc…. So he was automatically suspended from exercising priesthood. ImageImage
I mention this as a reminder that not everyone on Twitter who presents himself as having the authority of the Catholic priesthood truly has that authority.

#Grateful for the real priests on Twitter who share the truth in charity. @caseyofm @frjoshjohnson @DavidPaternostr
(The person in question was technically correct about not having been laicized, but he's still prevented by canon law from identifying himself as a priest. Here's the article that says he left the Catholic priesthood: canesfish.com/canes-all-star….)

Grady Hospital Wards

It was a Sunday. The students and interns had the day off so it was just the senior resident and me. This Grady elder was our last patient.

Yup.

Me: "What questions do you have for us?"
Her: "I don't have any questions. Y'all answered them. Thank you."
2/
Me: "Okay. Is there anything else you need before we go?"
Her: "May I have one minute of your time?"
Us: *looking at each other*
Resident: "Sure. Tell us what you need."

She extended both of her hands out toward us, gesturing for each of us to take one of them.

We did.
3/
She held our gaze and then spoke.

Her: "I'd like to pray for y’all. Is that okay?"

Shoot.

My breath hitched. I didn't want my resident to feel pressured or uncomfortable.

Shoot.

Had I been alone? This would’ve been a no brainer. But I was not.

Shoot.

Resident: “Okay.”

On 1/25/16, Montgomery v. Louisiana held that Miller v. Alabama should apply retroactively, giving hundreds of Juvenile Lifers a new chance to seek freedom. In 6 years since the decision, hundreds have returned home to Philadelphia. Today, we’ll feature some #FacesOfMontgomery.
Mike says he is, “equally grateful to have my freedom as I am saddened that I left so many deserving men behind. I pray my comrades have an opportunity to experience the blessing of freedom once again!” He promises he’ll keep on “maximizing my awesome energy!” #FacesOfMontgomery
Dwight shares, “Since my release from prison, I have been living life in reflection and gratitude. I appreciate this opportunity.” He now lives by a mantra: “Don’t tell me who you are, because what you are speaks so loud that I can’t hear you anyway.” #FacesOfMontgomery

Him: "I like the way you look at me."
Me: "Excuse me, sir?"
Him: "I mean. . . I like how your eyes look at me."

His words caught me off guard. I’d only been there a few moments. It seemed misplaced.

Me: "I want to receive that. Tell me what you mean, sir."
2/
Him: "It's like your eyes they look at me like . . . I don't know. Like I'm somebody worth you looking at.”
Me: *listening*
Him: “Like they happy to see me. Do that make sense?"
Me: "I think so."

*silence*
3/
Him: "It’s like, when you came in here, you put your eyes on me and right off they told me. Like you made up your mind even 'fore you came in here. Like, 'So what about what he look like or what stuff he got going on. He worth my time.’ I could tell.”

I kept listening.

When Valmiki completed his Ramayana, Narada wasn't impressed. 'It is good, but Hanuman's is better', he said.

'Hanuman has written the Ramayana too!', Valmiki didn't like this at all, and wondered whose Ramayana was better.

So he set out to find Hanuman.

#SaturdayMotivation
In Kadali-vana, grove of plantains, he found Ramayana inscribed on seven broad leaves of a banana tree.

He read it and found it to be perfect. The most exquisite choice of grammar and vocabulary, metre and melody. He couldn't help himself. He started to cry.

#SaturdayThoughts
'Is it so bad?' asked Hanuman
'No, it is so good', said Valmiki
'Then why are you crying?' asked Hanuman.

'Because after reading your Ramayana no one will read my Ramayana,' replied Valmiki.

Hearing this Hanuman simply tore up the seven banana leaves stating

This is hard to write but it is true for many. What I’m about to say is a harsh reality of what people go through.

What I am about to say is also the reason why a lot of people don’t ask for help.

People do not ask for help because of the fears and stigmas that exist.

Here Is Something to think about,

What if you were a #singleparent with a #child

You work full time for $15.00/hr

You take home roughly $960.00 per paycheck (bi-weekly after taxes)

#singleparent #parenting #Blessed #grateful #calgary #calgarylife #alberta #yyc

@EveryAlbertan
Your bills per month:

$1,000 or more for rent
$150 or more for cable/internet
$250 or more for utilities
$150 per month for car insurance

So let’s do the math

You bring home about
$1,920.00 a month

Your bills average about $1,500(give or take)

This morning we saw something we will NEVER forget.

We were at the #Walmart in Southeast #Calgary. We were shopping for some groceries when my stepson saw someone take a package of meat and put it under their shirt and then slowly walk over to their cart. #Food #Hungry #Alberta
This person had very few things in their cart. My stepson knows what I do here at @HarvestHillsYYC & he asked if we could help them.

I said yes we could but that this person would feel ganged up on if we all walked over to them, so I told him to stay here and that I’d walk over.
I walked over to where they had their cart and said “I know what it is like to struggle. I would love it if you’d let me help you and I’d like to pay for your groceries.”

This person looked up at me and said “did you see me take the meat?” I said “yes I did. I’d like to help”.

This week, try to focus on #gratitude. 🙏
