But we still don't have the roots of the conspiracy. Eastman's memo states that the Trump electors in those seven states met on December 14 (the day electors are supposed to meet), and "transmitted" their votes to Pence.
So what I'm really interested in (and maybe I just haven't been keeping up on news this week, because... I haven't) is HOW these were transmitted to Pence, and how did these electors in these states know to do this.
Eastman isn't (necessarily) the coordinating factor here since all we know for sure is that he knew about it two weeks after the fact. (Which is maybe still a crime?)
Likewise for Clark, who's letter was dated near the end of December.
The point is at some point, before December 14th somebody got in touch with the Trump electors in all these states and gave them specific and similar or identical instructions on how to proceed — when to meet, where to meet, how to vote, and where to send their slate.
ANYONE that knew about both that plan, and about the planning for the insurrection is in deep legal trouble.
Glad to see there's now been a seditious conspiracy charge. That lets them move exactly into the sort of crimes I talked about in the above thread.
It also occurs to me that they apparently got the full cooperation of every Trump elector in all seven of those states. That doesn't seem like something that happens by luck. This conspiracy could go back to when the electors were chosen. i.e. before the election.
At any rate I sincerely hope the DOJ and the House committee are looking closely at these electors, and how they were able to act in such a coordinated fashion. Who did they talk to or email with or text, and when?
There's a lot I don't know about the the process of transmitting the vote to Congress. I know it must be received by both the archivist and by Pence. And there's supposed to be two certificates - a certificate of vote and a certificate of ascertainment.
Based on this thread, I suspect that they were only transmitted the certificates of vote, not the certificate of ascertainment (which I think would require a governor's signature and that would be why).
It's also possible they were ONLY sent to Pence and not the national archivist.
Whatever else we think of Pence, it does seem that he did save our democracy.
The coordination of these electors will turn out to be the heart of the really important charges against higher ups in this coup attempt.
And here it is. Why would a state AG turn this over to DOJ? Because based on reports of this happening in seven states at once, it's obviously a conspiracy that crossed state lines.
In those seven states, we're talking about 84 people who signed fraudulent vote certificates. That's a helluva conspiracy, but you need other people to have the idea and coordinated it.
Keep in mind, the long term plan wasn't to have an insurrection. The long term plan was that Pence would play along, Ultimately leading to a stolen election.
The insurrection became necessary only when it became obvious that Pence wasn't going to play along.
I'd love to know exactly when Trump was sure Pence was not on board. I'm sure it was before 1/6, because the people that carried out the attack had more than mere hours to plan it.
Compare the real and fake (two pages) certificates from Arizona.
In Georgia, John A. Isakson would have nothing to do with this forgery, so they just recruited John Downey for the crime.
Georgia actually had four electors balk at the crime, who were all replaced by others willing to commit that crime.
As far as this being a coordinated conspiracy, you have only to look at the fake certificates from the seven states. They don't match at all the format and language of the real certificates. But they mostly match the language and format of each other. documentcloud.org/documents/2049…
I mean, this is absurd. They ALL used EXACTLY ten asterisks as a separator from the title. The exact same all-caps title, on two lines, with the line break in the same place.
Also, by my count, of the 84 electors, 16 were replaced for being absent. So 81% of the chosen electors were happy to commit this fraud on our democracy.
I suspect that whoever set up this conspiracy among these seven states convinced them that it was ok and a normal thing that electors due. I really hope the DOJ is interviewing the 84 electors who did this, as well as the 16 who didn't, to see what they were told and by whom.

If anyone has been questioned, they no doubt have been informed that their sharing of information about that interview would be prosecuted as interference in a federal investigation to the fullest extent of the law.
Also, Garland has already seen all the documents the House has requested from the White House, even though the House still doesn't have them.
Thanked them for their work, not just in the past 10 months but in the past several years, during unprecedented difficulties.
Will do everything in their power to defend the American people and American democracy. Will protect the rights of every eligible citizen to cast a vote that counts.
The European Union is conducting bizarre experiments in international law. If you live on the planet Earth, you are subject to EU laws, and therefore, to malicious prosecution from those who have more money than you.
I mean, I've been railing about how bad the EU cookie law is for a long time. The EU cookie law has probably tricked more people into accepting push notifications from random websites than any other imaginable tactic. And seriously harmed consumer privacy in the process. #irony
What the EU is doing to the world is reminiscent of how California exports its zealous laws to the rest of the country (e.g. car emission standards). While California's laws are arguably a good thing in many cases, the EU is just writing fucking disastrous law.
So I've had this highly speculative theory for awhile that a guy named Aleksandr Kabakov, who's the head of an AI firm called NTechLab (as well as findface.pro, and has mail.ru connections) was primarily responsible for 2016 election data analysis.
In October I tweeted that I'd noticed that Kabakov knows Ilya Sachkov, the head of Group IB that Russia just charged with treason. (Group IB also initiated investigations into the Alfa Bank/Trump server thing before Mandiant took over).
Well guess who else is a close associate of Ilya Sachkov? The guy we just had arrested in Switzerland, Vlad Klyushin, from whom we hope to gain information. Information which Dr. Wheeler speculates might be related to the Manafort data, in her article at the head of this tread.
