From a mate: "Hello! I was on a Border meeting earlier with the cabinet office. They were not wanting the truth, quite insistent that reports of queues, at either side of the channel were a fabrication by the media and social media.
In other words the queues that are potentially there are normal for Ro-Ro traffic.
Talk about propaganda. You seriously couldnโ€™t make this stuff up. Mind you when our own PM lies through his teeth is it any surprise that other government departments are going to do the same.
Interesting that an ex colleague still HMRC questioned a few of us about posts on FB where weโ€™d said about queues. They only want good news. I deal with a few hauliers and ffโ€™s day to day and they are telling a different story than the rhetoric the Government want us to believe.

Have been asked to outline the "differences" for 2022.
Tweet 1/ Will now need to complete an expensive (couple of hundred quid) customs carnet listing all equipment items no matter how small & prepare to pay duties on the promotional CDs & other material
Tweet 2/ The pork pies & other animal ingredients produce will now be confiscated & muddy van could be refused entry to EU. Gigs is Brussels & Cologne will need separate work permits & will now be the end of their 2 cabotage max tour.
Tweet 3/ The new guitar will now be subject to import duty when crossing back to UK. As will be the replacement van door. Ill drummer flying home with his (un) lucky drumsticks will fuck up their carnet

In short..I wish more would realise
UK Gov on 1/1/21 wholly stopped Free Movement of Brits (personally & their business/products & produce) in EU/EEA & in NI
BUT
are *still* allowing some Free Movement of EU/EEA (their business/produce/hauliers through unlimited cabotage) in GB
AND
This one here too seems to have been forgotten..

If youโ€™ve been following social media channels youโ€™ll see transport operators across Europe & UK seething about delays at borders as the new GVMS system becomes live. With no time to have meaningful trials in 2021 the first anyone could properly use the system came on 1st January
From the get-go we experienced our own delays as a truck that loaded in 2021 (between Xmas and new Year) had an entry that didnโ€™t compute with a system only expecting jobs from 2022.
Numerous calls to HMRC went from being ignored to simply being unable to help.
