1. 8K+ @kroger workers are on strike today in Colorado

According to a new study, as Kroger earns billions in profits, 2 out of 3 Kroger workers don't earn enough to pay basic expenses

Inflation-adjusted wages for frontline workers, however, are down 3-5%.

3. The CEO of @kroger, Rodney McMullin, made $22 million in 2020. That's 909x the salary of the median worker.

4. Kroger offered its Colorado workforce a starting wage of $16/hour.

But that's just 13 CENTS above the minimum wage in Denver, where many of its stores are located.

5. In March 2020, @kroger gave it's workers a $2/hour increase, calling it a "hero bonus"

"We will continue to support you, and your families, during this difficult time."

6. Today, @kroger requires these "heroes" to submit a PCR test to qualify for paid time off due to COVID. Since PCR tests can take days, many workers w/symptoms feel pressure to report to work.

1. The author of an anti-CRT bill in Indiana told a high school history teacher that he should remain "impartial" on Nazism.

This got a fair bit of attention but I want to highlight one way this bill is at the vanguard on the anti-CRT movement

2. The bill, authored by Scott Baldwin, requires "educators to separately post all classroom curricula online for parents — including lesson plans, worksheets, presentations and other materials."

This is presented as an effort to provide "transparency"

3. But it is also following the playbook of @realchrisrufo, who created much of the anti-CRT hysteria.

Rufo is encouraging state lawmakers to push for "transparency" so he can weaponize decontextualized snippets of curriculum

1. One common reaction to our investigation into @redlobster is that it's "not just Red Lobster" that doesn't provide paid sick leave to employees.

This is correct but it also misses the point.

3. Keep in mind, providing paid sick leave is MANDATORY in 14 states and many cities. So the very low rate suggests that @redlobster workers have difficulty accessing paid leave even when required by law.
