Hike by my company: 5%
Hike I gave myself: 145.5%

In 2021, I got a 145.5% hike as compared to my corporate annual salary.

My salary of 6 months made 20% of my income.

Here are 10 things that helped.

1. The most obvious one

I started side hustling.

It started from short gigs like a quick statement of purpose for $150 to bigger ones like website copy and LinkedIn ghostwriting.

After I saw that I can sustain the $$$$, I quit.
2. OWN your negotiations

An Upwork client agreed to an 80% higher rate.
A co-founder agreed to pay me to mention their articles.

You can get a lot by doing this one thing - asking.

The worst answer is 'no'. Is that really so bad?
3. Money mindset

I love money.

I've experienced what it's like to grow wealth and I'm unapologetic about it.

Tell me, wouldn't you want that too? Then why shit on others for making good money?

From Think and Grow Rich:
Desire ➡️ Mindset ➡️ Action ➡️ Money
4. Don't sell yourself short

I spoke to somebody for months to help them. They quoted me a below-average rate.

I said no. Our [kind of] friendship also died with it.

Here's a golden nugget to help you. Read on...
👉 People pay you when you help them make money. Make yourself an investment.

I have luckily worked with plenty who won't negotiate because they believe in value (and also spoken to those $5 ones, ew).

• Build credibility, then
• Ask for money
5. Be surrounded by the right people

You are a human, you're gifted with intuition - practice it.

One of my friends actually helped me decide prices but most people won't want to see you earn more.

You WILL grow when your tribe wants you to, and help you!
6. Don't do it for the money

I didn't quit my job for money. I knew I'll eventually get money as I go up the corporate ladder.

Doing my own thing made me feel alive.

Made me work harder than I *ever* had.

The money came in as a byproduct.
7. Want to make more money? You have to think you can.

If you tell me to charge $1000/1000 words I'll say I can't. Yet a friend got paid $7500 for 5000 words as a ghostwriter.

You get exactly what you think you deserve.

If you think you're not worth it, you're not.
8. Stop whining, jeez

There will always be somebody doing better than you.
Making more money.
More popular.
Everything.

Stop whining about why clients don't pay you, why you don't get gigs or anything.

Divert your energy into solutions and watch things change.
9. Have a growth mindset

Indian mentality taught me scarcity. We're bought up with competition because of overpopulation and limited seats.

Growth mindset taught me we can ALL prosper and win.

I promise you your life will change once you move to this mindset.

10. Give

What you put out there is what you get.

Give your knowledge, values, help others.

A scarcity mentality will leave you scarce. Thinking in abundance will you give in abundance.

Give, and expect nothing. Whatever is yours will come to you.

Many of you may have ‘weight-loss’ as your new year's resolution.

I did too, for years, and it never worked.

Here are six lifestyle changes that helped me drop 55lbs (25kgs).

You probably haven’t tried #4.

+ Added some pro tips to help you.

1. Little bit every day

I hit the gym right before going to uni every day.

This helped me make exercising a habit and not a chore.

Also helped me sleep better as I wouldn’t party until late so I can wake up to hit the gym.
🙌🏼 Pro Tips:

• 30min of anything > 2h of burning out
• doing it happily > cribbing

This month, I complete 6 months of quitting my 9-5.

A 'safe job' that didn't even cut our pay at a time most people lost jobs last year.

Here's what I've learnt.

TL;DR

1. There's no upper limit to money
2. It's not as scary as you think
3. The world is a platter of opportunities
4. Your feed matters
5. You HAVE to be consistent
6. Money
1. There's no upper limit to money

Corporates make you chase the next promotion, raise, etc.

In March, I got a 5% raise at work.

In Dec'21, I calculated my finances and realised I got a 145.4% raise thanks to side hustling.

(will write in detail about that another time)
