Need wings for the smoker for tomorrow’s Bills game. Sprouts, Safeway, and Whole Foods near the house are out. Can I get a ruling on crossing the picket line at King Soopers for this kind of dire emergency?
Me in these replies
You people and your Costco. How much storage space do you have in your homes?
My ancestors are rising from the cold earth of Western New York at this suggestion
Fine. I’ll go to Costco after a quick stop at Home Depot.
The number of folks taking this thread seriously is really something to behold. Do you think people who grew up in Western New York cross picket lines? I’d be eating those wings alone. Along with every other meal for the rest of my life.
While we’re on the topic, @JonCaldara called me yesterday while I was driving and I asked him to hold on so that I could beep for the King Soopers picket line. I could hear him melting on the other end of the line. 😭
I don’t know. They are really fast and flap around a lot.
NEW: Colorado's Democrats in the US House are calling for a DOJ Inspector General investigation of prior law enforcement contacts with the extremist who killed five people in Denver/Lakewood as outlined in his alt-right revenge novels.
"We have serious concerns regarding the sharing of information and the response of law enforcement officials and whether it was adequate, timely and thorough," read the letter from @RepPerlmutter, @RepJasonCrow, @RepDianaDeGette, and @RepJoeNeguse.
Denver Police acknowledge being tipped off the shooter a year prior to the killings but said there was not enough evidence to build a case.
Many family pets were killed when thousands of Coloradans lost their homes in the #MarshallFire. Let's cover the pet adoption fees when those families are ready again and fund pet boarding costs for displaced families. You've donated $70k in 30 minutes: give.boulderhumane.org/campaign/marsh…
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley provided care and boarding for pets rescued from the fire. And @HumaneBoulder is covering the cost to board pets for families who can't bring them to temporary housing. And providing food and supplies to impacted families.
Through your Word of Thanks microgiving campaign, @HumaneBoulder will cover the costs of boarding or temporary foster placements for the pets of displaced families for as long as needed - and cover the adoption fees for families who lost pets in the fire: give.boulderhumane.org/campaign/marsh…
NEW: Colorado activates "crisis standards of care" for EMS due to COVID-19 surge. Ambulances may not be dispatched on as many calls and suspected COVID patients in continuous cardiac arrest will not be transported to hospitals. #COVID19Colorado
"Patients in cardiac arrest with an initial rhythm of ventricular fibrillation should have limited efforts at resuscitation including CPR, electrical defibrillation and
ACLS drugs," per the Crisis Standards of Care guide.
Under Crisis Standards of Care, EMS is directed to only transport the most severe cases. The criteria for not transporting patients under the age of 60 is below.
NEW: @GovofCO Polis is appointing his 2018 Republican opponent, @WalkerStapleton, to Colorado's Economic Development Commission. The group guides economic strategy to retain and attract businesses to the state. #copolitics
Polis and Stapleton both said today that they hope their cooperation, after an acrimonious campaign, sends a signal about the importance of bipartisan cooperation to benefit Colorado. I’ll have a portion of our conversation on @nexton9news at 6pm.
Stapleton is Polis’ 2nd high-profile GOP appointee in recent weeks, following Polis’ selection of Ken Montera to fill an open seat on the University of Colorado Board of Regents. “We just want to appoint the best people,” Polis said. “Walker is the best person for this role.”
NEW: Boulder Sheriff says there are 2,000 homes in the #MarshallFire burn area but not all were lost. 500+ homes lost in Superior. Dozens more near Marshall. Dozens lost near Louisville. Will thread new details here.
This is astonishing good news given the speed and scope of the fire. No known deaths.
“In a blink of an eye, this was a disaster is fast motion,” said @GovofCO, who lives in Boulder County. “It’s unimaginable.” Gov Polis says he just spoke with President Biden who gave verbal approval to a disaster declaration.
Police in Lakewood, CO just released this photo of Agent Ferris who, while wounded, shot and killed the mass shooter who had ranted online about the weakness of women.
Agent Ferris was shot in the abdomen and is recovering in the hospital. "If not for the heroic efforts of Agent Ferris and other law enforcement, this incredibly violent tragedy could have been even worse," Lakewood Police said in a written statement.
The shooter, whose misogynist alt-right novels and writings urged the subjugation of women to "alpha" males, killed five people and injured several more Monday. He was declared dead on the scene after being shot by Agent Ferris.
