Okay guys let's go....

1. It takes time and practice to grab this tech thing especially coding, be patient and committed.

2. When the frustration pile up due to errors, take your mind of it and go do something else- walk, small talks etc. Go let out steam!

3. There are two group of people,
a. Those made by institutions they pass through, they capitalize on the name of these institutions to establish their value, e.g I went to Harvard, I worked as Analyst at Chase Bank etc... 👇
#CodeNewbies
4.
b. The second group of individuals who make the institutions they passed/pass through. They define the value of these institutions and proceed to building it. A typical example here in Nigeria is Afikpo Chic and how she got elected via a party with no records...
5. How does that concern tech?
As a tech chap, it will benefit you more to be the second person. The person who make institutions they pass through. The person who gives more value. A source. If you dont have formal degrees, this is your best bet!!! No other way.

6. If your first employer pays you well enough to cover your NEEDS. I mean your entry level salary, if it is decent, stay away from contracts and side gigs. Use your time to skill up further.

This way you deliver incredibly more value to the employer and...

#codeNewbies
7. ...ask for more money... That is not the endgame actually, the endgame is that with the new skills developer, you can shoot for bigger employers if that is your goal.
8. Your back will ache!

Back ache will set in. Invest in ergonomic chairs and tables. Exercise! Go for back massage if you dont have someone at home to help with that.

Exercise guarantee two things:
1. Cognitive elegance.
2. Spinal health(will do a separate thread for this).
9. Dont rush to tag yourself "Self taught".

Dont rush that label. Enroll for a good training and learn the lopes from someone first. Dont worry, you will still have a lot to TEACH YOURSELF on the job.

At the beginning if you want to move fast, you need structured learning!
10. A stack or two first

Undoing of most newbies is trying to learn everything at once or jumping from one to another. That is the easiest way to defeat yourself and convince yourself that you can't do it.

Learn one stack first, use it a year or two before picking the next one
11. Ask Questions! Ask for Help. Ask Early!

first time I deployed laravel to live server there was an error that got me hooked for 48hrs. By end of second day I reach out to a senior dev who have been a dev since 2002, well without thinking he told me how to trace the problem
12. Dont Ask Working Devs to be Your Mentor!

It scares most devs! They are likely to explicitly or implicitly decline! 😀

Just tell them "I will get in touch with questions whenever e choke me" he/she will gladly tell you that is not a problem 😊
13. Your Domain Knowledge is as Important as Your Coding Skills if not More Important.

You need more than great coding skills to build a great accounting app! You also need great knowledge of accounting and ACCOUNTANTS! Their psychology!

Be willing to dive in and learn first
14. Stay Visible.

Its not always the most competent that gets approached. It is most competent visible one! Use social media and blog posts extensively to market yourself at the beginning.

When the calls keep coming, you will need to withdraw to learn more and....
so you can deliver beyond expectations! 🙌🙌🙌

15. If you go contracting route, do understand that your first clients, their job is important to you and your career as it is to them. Very important point to internalize! 🙃🙃🙃
16. Have you retweet this thread? Please do if you want more! 🙌 Image
17. Dont Buy Course Update with last updated more than 6months.

If you buy such courses, you will likely encounter version compatibility problems and e go choke. 🙃😀
18. I am Vincent, I build business solutions with PHP's Laravel + Lumen and ReactJs. Been working full time for over a year now. Currently getting better in Solidity and Cloud while moonlighting as Tech Content writer.

Follow me let's connect.... DM is open for questions.
