MSNBC just falsely declared that voting rights legislation is “all but dead.” These fucking liars just make shit up to scare you into staying tuned in so they can hit their ratings marks. If you want to know what’s going on, start by turning that fictional bullshit off.
Now MSNBC is hyping the “rise of DeSantis.” Again, a fictional narrative. Back in the real world, DeSantis is unpopular enough he’s at serious risk of losing reelection in 2022. But because he’s scary and thus good for ratings, they’re falsely hyping him for 2024. It’s fiction.
There’s just no way you can square being a regular MSNBC (or CNN) viewer with being knowledgeable, savvy, or in any sort of position to fight and win political battles. These networks have always been hyperbolic in the pursuit of ratings. But these days they’re literally fiction.
The sad reality is that Fox News won. Its business model – finding whatever fictional narratives will keep the target audience’s blood pumping and thus keep them tuned in – has proven to be so profitable, the other two networks are now increasingly using the same business model.
The only difference is in the target audience and thus the psychology. Fox targets right wingers by telling them every other demographic is out to get them but they’re going to win anyway, because that’s what keeps them tuned in…
…while MSNBC and CNN target liberals and moderates by yelling them that all hope is lost and the right wingers are going to win no matter what, because that’s what keeps liberals and moderates tuned in. Speaks to the psychology of each group. But it’s how they each get ratings.
This is nothing new. MSNBC and CNN spent every single day of the 2016 election lying to you, by hyping a supposed Hillary email scandal for ratings when they knew it wasn’t even real. But in 2021 and now 2022, they’ve gotten much worse. It’s not just lies, it’s TOTAL DOOM.
The hurt and anguish you hear in the voices of these MSNBC hosts these days when they’re telling you you’re doomed, sounds like the tone of voice you’d have heard from a newscaster on 9/11 or something. Except it’s not real, because they know we’re not “doomed.” It’s all an act.
It’s one thing for an MSNBC host to focus on bullshit to drive ratings. It’s another for an MSNBC host to put on an acting school level display of feigned anguish in order to sell a bullshit ratings-driven narrative. That’s literally Fox News stuff.
The bizarre part is that even as MSNBC and CNN have spent the past year pushing doomsday hysteria, their ratings have ranked. It’s dishonest and unprofitable. Yet they keep doubling down on it. Why not just try portraying the day’s news honestly, and be constructive about it?

After weeks of buzz, Fulton County DA Fani Willis is now formally empaneling a special grand jury to speed up her criminal case against Donald Trump for election fraud, per the AP. It’s the strongest signal yet that she plans to criminally indict Trump and put his ass in prison.
This means her case against Trump essentially gets to skip the line and doesn’t have to compete for grand jury time with the other criminal cases in the district. The DA will now be able to get subpoenas and such nearly instantly so she can move forward faster.
Much will be made of the fact that a special grand jury can’t indict people. But once the DA has used the special grand jury to complete her case, she’ll present it to a regular grand jury and have it bring indictments.

The bad news for Ivanka Trump this week just keeps getting worse for her. The January 6th Committee has formally asked her to cooperate. If she refuses, she’ll be subpoenaed, then referred for criminal contempt and she’ll face prison time. This is on top of the New York AG news.
Earlier this week the New York AG revealed in a civil probe court filing that she has “significant evidence” Ivanka falsified asset values for insurance, loan and tax purposes. The AG also has a criminal probe into the Trumps, so it seems nearly a given Ivanka will be indicted.
Even if Ivanka decides to cooperate with the 1/6 committee to save herself, she’ll have to do it in a way that doesn’t further incriminate her in the NY AG probe. Of course if she wants to ensure she doesn’t go to prison, she’ll have to cut a deal with New York against her dad.

One more time for the pundits who still don't get it: the current senate vote over voting rights legislation is DESIGNED TO FAIL, so as to put the media and public spotlight on Manchin and Sinema, and squeeze them into a pulp so they'll feel pressured to cave on this later.
None of this is remotely difficult to understand. In fact, most pundits are professing that they "don't get it" in such emphatic and histrionic fashion, it's fair to suspect that they DO get it, and they've decided they can get more attention & retweets by pretending they don't.
The people who *honestly* think voting rights legislation is dead, are frankly morons, EXTREME morons, people who have literally zero understanding of how anything in politics works or ever gets done. Not to be rude, but if you're that clueless, shut up and get out of the way.

When discussing the New York AG's civil probe against the Trump Organization, the media rarely acknowledges that the NY AG also has a Trump criminal case with the Manhattan DA. All Trump criminal activity unearthed in the civil probe will (obviously) result in criminal charges.
Most of the media has tried to stay as far away as possible from the reality that Trump has been on track for prison since the minute he lost the election. NY criminal case has been minimized. Coverage of NY civil case usually omits related criminal case, etc.
This makes sense from a ratings standpoint. How can the media milk the current false narrative about Trump making a 2024 comeback, while also admitting that he's on track to be in prison long before then? So it just pretends he's not on track for prison.

Arizona Senator Mark Kelly has come out in support of exempting voting rights from the filibuster. This was always going to happen. He was only “keeping an open mind” so as to appear reasonable in the eyes of swing voters in his purple state. It’s just how politics works.
All that media hype about Mark Kelly being on the fence was just that, media hype. Scare you into fearing he might go the other way, so you’ll stare paralyzed at your screen and boost their ratings while awaiting his “decision.”
The only real news here is that with Mark Kelly now out of the closet on this, it places even more pressure on the other senator from his state, Kyrsten Sinema. Time for us all to ram up the pressure on her. Call her office now at 202-224-4521 (be civil or you’re not helping)

Now that it’s clear Trump is being indicted in New York, the media has (baselessly) decided today that he’ll definitely run in 2024. The more obvious it is that Trump is toast, the more loudly the media tries to shout down the facts, in favor of hyping ratings-friendly fiction.
When Trump is arrested, the media will insist that he’s *definitely* going to win in 2024 now.

And if Trump happens to drop dead at any point, the media will insist that now he’s really got us where he wants us.
Everyone in the media knows that Trump is merely acting like he’s going to run in 2024, so he can rake in donations and use it for legal bills. Yet the media is helping him pretend he’s going to run. Trump and the media have arguably entered into a criminal conspiracy to defraud.
