SCOOP: CMD has obtained information on two academies the American Legislative Exchange Council held in 2021 that it chose not to promote or list on its website as it does for its Annual Meeting or States and Nation Policy Summit.

Sept 15-17, ALEC held a Life Sciences Academy “exclusive” for ALEC lawmakers. CMD obtained the invite & agenda. Heritage & Pacific Research Institute staff presented on drug pricing. Gene therapy, mental health, & patient access were also on the agenda.

Oct 13-15, ALEC held an “Innovating for the Future Academy” in Silicon Valley. You can only imagine how “state policy-makers and industry experts” worked together to find “solutions to public policy issues.” CMD obtained the invite.

ALEC has increasingly been holding academies alongside or between its Annual Meeting and States and Nation Policy Summit. In 2021, it held two academies to rewrite the U.S. Constitution. We wrote about both, latest in December.

ALEC has also held at least two voter suppression academies with the dark money group Honest Elections Project. We wrote about the first one here after obtaining the agenda.

The second voter suppression academy for ALEC lawmakers happened just in December. CMD obtained the invitation. ALEC attempted to deflect attention from this academy by having a voter suppression session at the States and Nation Policy Summit.
