The think tank— the Australian Stretegic Partnership Initiative (ASPI) — have already deleted hundreds of thousands of Chinese, Russian, & Iranian accounts, and consider chellenging Western govt narratives about these countries as evidence enough for permabans.
ASPI is directly funded by Western governments and by the arms industry, and pumps out relentless pro-war propaganda on their website.
Around half of its executive council also sit on the boards of weapons giants, sparking a ludicrous conflict of interests.
Also on the board are former Australian Defense Ministers, Robert Hill and Brendon Nelson.
Hill was a key force in pushing Australia into war with Iraq, relentlessly lying to the public about WMDs.
His organization now decides what is true and that is false info on Twitter. 🙃
ASPI chief Peter Jennings recently called for war with Russia, denounced Biden leaving Afghanistan, thinks we should INCREASE troop numbers in Iraq, said “the West is setting the bar for military response too high” & claimed that Russia, Syria + China are “Leninist autocracies”🤡
ASPI also publish blatant advertorials for their weapons company sponsors; they run Lockheed Martin ads on every page.
This would be bad enough if ASPI were an orange juice-promoting think tank filled with execs from Tropicana. But they aren’t selling OJ: they’re selling war.
ASPI are behind much of the China hysteria we see today, including the lab leak conspiracy.
They’ve even claimed that putting Huawei sensors on garbage trucks would constitute a national security crisis.
Last year they also said China was essentially about to nuke Australia
ASPI has played a leading role – some would say, the leading role – in driving Australia’s mendacious and self-destructive and often absurd China-bashing campaign. [Australia] has relied upon the ASPI to disseminate Washington’s desperate strategic policies.” - @johnpilger
@johnpilger Unfortunately, Twitter is not the only social media platform now significantly controlled by the national security state. See my article on who is Director of Policy at Reddit as well:
@johnpilger Meanwhile, Facebook has teamed up with NATO think tank the Atlantic Council, who advise it on algorithms, bot networks, suspicious behaviour and banning of users.
When asked about the country, USAID chief Samantha Power (one of the architects of the Libya disaster) said that “every option is on the table” - a codeword for war.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken refused to rule out sends troops into Tigray when directly asked at the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
[Thread] The OTF, the group that helps make so many of the net's favorite privacy apps, including Signal and Tor, is full of national security state plants.
@MintPressNews The OTF talks about Internet freedom a lot.
But when it comes down to it, their idea of "freedom" means the freedom for the US govt to spam people around the world with Radio Free Asia and Voice of America content.
@MintPressNews Every member of the OTF's board was a high-level govt functionary, including ambassadors, PNAC neocons and Iraq and Afghan war planners.
Is this really the sort of organization we can trust to make our privacy apps?
Is it really a coincidence that as soon as the US pulled out of Afghanistan, the domestic American heroin supply has dried up? 🤔🇦🇫
We know, for instance, that the CIA ran the crack trade in the 1980s, and even intentionally introduced it to black communities across the US, using the money to fund death squads in Latin America.
[Thread] My new @MintPressNews article analyzing Tulsi Gabbard's Metamorphosis from anti-war progressive to defending drone strikes on civilians on Fox News.
@MintPressNews In recent weeks, Tulsi has appeared almost daily on Fox News, where she has celebrated the Rittenhouse verdict and the GOP Virginia win, attacked Biden's "open door" borders and warned against the "far-left" Democrat Party pushing a "cradle to grave mentality of dependency."
@MintPressNews In the last month, she's appeared on Fox shows Tucker Carlson Tonight, Hannity, Gutfeld!, Neil Cavuto Live, Fox News Primetime, The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton, and Watters World. She hasn't appeared on any other network.
[Thread] Searching through 1000s of Defense Dept docs, I found that the US has sold over $28.3 billion in arms to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 since their attack on Yemen 🇾🇪 began. This includes 20 deals inked by the Biden admin.
In addition to the $28.3 billion, Saudi Arabia is also a named customer in $34 billion worth of additional deals with multiple recipients, meaning the upper bound for US ➡️ Saudi weapons sales could be as high as $63 billion since 2015.
Although Biden has cut back on the bonanza, he has still ok'd similar amounts as Trump did 2017-8, including orders for Black Hawk and Apache helicopters as well as cruise missiles and other bombs.
This, despite promising the US would end its involvement in the conflict.
LMAO. @NBCNews, that Cuban guy who you're claiming is "demanding basic freedoms" at an anti-government march is literally the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel. 🇨🇺🤣
The US tried (and failed) to foment a revolution in Cuba on Monday, with barely anyone turning up. I guess they really had to improvise with their coverage 😂
