The U.S. military is built to do many things. Probably the best capability they have is to fight head to head against Russian armor and air formations. But for some reason the Russians made us think they would invade the US.
We had to modify our Cold War tools to kill guys in flip flops. I saw it in Afghanistan and Iraq. B52 Strategic bombers being used as expensive mortars. B1's used to wake up the taliban at low level. U2s hired to take photos. Expensive but purty.
All I worry about is having to shift reading from Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen etc and bone up on Europe. Imagine the folks that wonder if they have to cancel their vacation this summer? It's been a while since you could watch a war from a nice cafe.
