Europe is under stress: lots of COVID19 infections and social disruptions. Our European health agencies have lost contact with reality, are confused and hope for best. Meanwhile in Taiwan, their health agency (CECC) reported 82 domestic infections! How do they do it? #1

The CECC reported 82 domestic C19 cases. Most of the 82 cases were linked to two clusters: 14 was traced to a worker at Kaohsiung Harbor, and 64 to a factory in Taoyuan’s Free Trade Zone. About 10,000 people work regularly at Kaohsiung Harbor. #2

10.000 people make contact tracing relatively difficult. Community testing stations have been set up near the site to encourage people who might have had contact with an infected person or experience symptoms typical of COVID-19 to get tested. #3

Using a new registration system that makes use of a QR code, Taiwan has been able to simplify the process of providing contact information at a given venue which only take 5 seconds. #4

This new system frees people from having to fill out their names, mobile phone numbers, and other information when entering stores and public agencies. No personal information is permanently stored, users movements are not tracked and SMSs are deleted after 28 days #5

Restaurants are advised to implement the new QR code registration, adding that those that fail to cooperate would be ordered to suspend dine-in services. #6

Eating and drinking would be banned on all public transport: airplanes, boats, buses and trains, including high-speed trains. Exceptions would be drinking water if needed physiologically (medicine or breastfeeding) #7

Public transport stations, national scenic areas and post offices have been asked to thoroughly implement contact registration (QR system) and increase the frequency of environmental disinfection to meet the standards of a level 3 COVID-19 alert #8

The ministry also encourages all companies nationwide, especially those with more than 100 employees, to conduct rapid COVID-19 testing of their employees even if they are fully vaccinated.. The ministry can help match companies with test kits #9

Religious groups must submit a COVID-19 safety plan and gain local government approval if they are to hold a religious event for more than 500 participants, adding that contact tracing, temperature measurements and disinfection must be implemented. #10

Visitor capacity at religious venues and events should be limited to a crowd density of one person per 2.25m² indoors and one person per 1m² outdoors, entrances and exits should be separated, and visitors must move through the venue in one direction #11
