So it has been an interesting day in convoy news. First, lets talk briefly about last night as Pat King and his group drove into Regina... and appear to have gotten mildly lost. 1/
He also has claimed the convoy has made the Guinness Book of World records (a claim since repeated numerous times by convoy supporters) which (a) isn't how it works and (b) no it hasn't. 2/
But that is all a bit petty. What really reveals their character is how they respond to having no adoring fans waving as they pass. 6/
So, in the dead of night, Pat urges people to honk their horns. Wake people up. $20 to the first person who breaks a window. Noise bylaws be damned. 7/
It sort of goes to show how selfish these people are.
But there is more.
Today Pat responded to this clip that was posted by my friend @JaneQCitizen 8/
His response is rife with lies claiming that @JaneQCitizen suggested he said this last night (she did,'t), that @antihateca was given $45 million my the government (they did not), that the clip has been reworked (it hasn't), and that we will be charged with slander (we won't). 9/
The problem with Pat King is that he has made a number of incredibly violent threats in the past, for instance, this one when he couldn't make his flight because of his vaccine status. 10/
I can go on but given the rhetoric we've seen thus far from Pat in the not-so-distant past and others, it seems almost inevitable that there will be an incident.
But let's say Pat King does behave. What about others who won't? 14/
Know that Russell is a free speech absolutist... sort of.
You see, he favours unrestricted free speech UNTILL people like him get into power. 20/
He further confirms his actual contempt for democracy in this exchange in his Telegram account. 21/
22/
In any case, he will also be attending the event in Ottawa this weekend, but first he discusses Derek Harrison's comment about hoping a truck drives into the wall as well as Jeremy Mackenzie's reaction. 23/
To be clear, and while Mackenzie urges people to be on their best behaviour, he himself has expressed his opinion about the need for violence in other circumstances. 24/
He also agrees with Mackenzie that people need to behave, however it would be awesome if they didn't. 26/
He couches his language very carefully. 27/
However, he is a big fan of what happened on January 6, 2022 at the Capitol Building. 28/
He encourages Canada First members and others who plan on attending to "be rowdy" and to get in the face of the police. 29/
Again, couching his language carefully, he tells his supporters to be ready in order to ensure the Liberal government is dissolved by the end of the weekend, because they are delusional like that. 30/
So, these are some of the people who plan on attending.
I could include more of a similar mindset.
Still thing that there aren't some who are going with more than a peaceful protest in mind? 31/
Also, this… 32/
But, I though Pat said he wasn’t getting any of that sweet, sweet, @gofundme cash? 33/
By the way, remember when Pat claimed to have a vet who lost his leg in Afghanistan? 34/
Yeah, we do and we have the receipts. 35/
So did he sell his bike with the profits going to vets?
I mean, I suppose he could have had two motorcycles... 🙇 36/
By the way, a thought on Pat King's claim that @antihateca received $45 million from the government.
It isn't true of course, but... imagine if it was true?
We are a bare bones operation but they think of us as the boogeymen under their beds. Imagine us with $45 million. 37
Well this letter by Hillier suggesting the Prime Minister and other political leaders are terrorists certainly doesn’t help bring the temperature of the room down. 38/
My CTV interview came out today on this very topic.
Also, plan on covering the rally in Ottawa this weekend. It will likely be busy. That said, if any of the idiots who are attending and planning to do something stupid, first don't and second I will be taking 2 hours to go to the gym so wait until it is convenient for me. 41/
So I guess Trump Jr. decided make fomenting coup attempts an international affair. 42/
Today the organizers and the administrators of the Go Fund Me issued a press release in which they claim their protest is peaceful and that extremist elements are not a part of it. 2/
Yesterday, they also posted a now apparently deleted update to the Go Fund Me stating that Pat King was not a part of the convoy effort. 3/
On Friday @StephanieCarvin, @AmarAmarasingam, and myself had an article published focused on a subset of the anti-lockdown/anti-vaxx effort who are motivated by far-right rhetoric. 1/
While a great deal of the response was very supportive, we got some pushback by people who either didn't bother to read the article or who purposely mischaracterized it. 2/
Of some interest to me, Artur Pawlowski managed to find it and posted a link. The response of his supporters probably inadvertently from his standpoint confirmed what we wrote about regarding this subset. 3/
Well folks (and hello new followers). I said there would be an update on Kevin Johnston's Benny Hillesque, futile, and self-defeating flight from Canada to seek asylum in the United States. 1/
And like the posts from yesterday, the part dealing with Johnston's trek across the border is still genuinely funny.
However, I am also going to post some other parts so that you can get a real idea of the character of both Johnston and LaJune which is much more infuriating. 2/
The video is two and a half hours.
I will NOT subject you to all of it.
I'll start with the... er... highlights?
First, any thought that it wasn't Kevin and was instead another grifter who coincidently was trying to illegally cross the border is put to bed right away. 3/
We will begin at the ending since, as @TonyYvce had said to us, this was likely to be the shortest man hunt in Canadian history. Slight hyperbole, but really not much as Kevin Johnston was taken into custody trying to cross the US border on foot. 1/20
We had first gotten wind that Kevin was on the lam yesterday when @JaneQCitizen posted screen shots from the anti-mask/anti-vaxx Telegram group run by Brad Carrigan. I would urge you to look at her thread. 2/20
Though I didn't doubt that much of what was posted in the Telegram might be true, we were dealing with people known to play fast and loose with the truth so I waited until it was confirmed by @antihateca today. 3/20
