Kudos for finally showing your cards as antimaskers.

And showing us that if we too lived in Marin County, CA, we could have HEPA's in every class, 98% vaccination, and make $170,000/ year.

But we live in Birmingham, AL.
Or towns like Birmingham with people that normally would hang on to your every word.

But now, where "the staffing shortages left classrooms without teachers. Schools were without essential staff such as child nutrition workers to serve meals and custodians to clean buildings"
Lol...the ad link below is to another story, "Who's really learning? 1 in 3 Alabama students sent home."

Anyway, teachers have only 5 students showing up.

That's our normal.
Teacher union is going to go on a sick-out. Is it normal that no one will even notice?

But you know what? Parents actually support the teachers there 👇👇. Guess they are getting tired of your bullshit.

@SecCardona ...the tide has shifted.
The Superintendent tried the usual shining faces line.
Used to be that 'Bama papers run Trump red.

Not when it comes to schools. Not anymore.

There has been a narrative shift.
I found something tremendously heartening in this article.

'Bama is about as backward as it comes to education.

But they are talking about PPE AND VENTILATION!

WHOOOO HOOOOOO!

Hot damn!!

@LongDesertTrain @Loretta_Torrago @wexlerwriting

The battle's not over, but 😀!
BTW....they have a live stream, @MonicaGandhi9 @TracyBethHoeg @drlucymcbride

You should call the school and ask to speak.

I would LOVE to hear their reaction to you Yankees coming in with your ginned up data.

Bless your hearts....
Unlike them, I speak from the heart, and do not lie with data.

Hi Mr. Shapiro, @ishapiro of @ManhattanInst.

I am an immunocompromised Clean Air Advocate in my spare time, and I'd like to walk through your provided statement, and address your valid concerns. Image
Unless I am reading you incorrectly, you firmly support free speech, including that of wishing to listen. (I love that - so often overlooked).

Roughly 12% of America is still masking per the latest poll.

That poll is the latest poll from September 2023. You probably would not have thought that less than a year ago, right? That's because the Covid Cautious tend to avoid crowds.

But we have a first amendment right to go and protest, or listen - as you have pointed out.

The USDA is going with fomites, @Alexander_Tin @RickABright

Notice that word 👇- masks.

Masks are for droplets and fomites. Respirators are for aerosols.

Is there a possibility of this being an incorrect usage of the word mask? Could be. I doubt it.

Too many eyes on

this.

Let me point out for new followers that a dirty surface is called a fomite. The contaminating particles can also be called fomites.

Until they are sprayed/splashed up and become aerosols.

Fomites are just aerosols waiting to happen. And visa versa.
In this most recent study, recommending masks, they gave no discussion of the immune system of the udder - truly formidable, and a fascinating read.

Nor compared it to the relatively defenseless LRT immune system. ("Relatively" stressed due to alveoli macrophages, etc).

Black head-straps on a black respirator.

Black shirt, black tie, black belt, black shoes.

A black Luca Mosca suit, and John Wick is back.

We can't all afford to wear Luca Mosca.

But most of us can afford the respirator. 🧵

The respirator is the black Laianzhi HYX1002, an excellent Chinese KN100 and FFP3 (think N99).

There are no Amazon knock-off issues here as the online store has a direct line to the manufacturer - evidently, a reputable company.

I am immunocompromised, so I take what I breathe in as seriously as Mr. Wick takes his suits and guns.

This is an excellent respirator with an amazingly wide nose latex foam that makes each one almost a bespoke respirator.

The nose wire is luxuriously thick.

We've talked about masking in
Taiwan and South Korea 👇.

This 🧵 is not that story.

This is the story of Japan - the story that you have not heard.

Badass samurai in an N95, just slicing g SARS2 out of the air.
Business man in surgical mask.
Everyone has always assumed that the Japanese have masked as a whole society for ages.

That is simply not true - I lived in Tokyo for a few years. There were some thoughtful people in masks.

They would mask so as not to infect others.

Generally, it's expected. 1 child in mask, 2 not
Here in the west, the CDC recommends Respiratory Etiquette. Which belongs in the 1770s in terms of efficacy. It's a joke.

But the concept of not infecting others is actually at the heart of it.

You've heard of masking in Japan, China, and South Korea 👇.

This 🧵 is not that story.

This is the story of Taiwan - and then a very important consideration for Canada and the USA.
Image
The story begins under Japanese rule (1895-1945 ).

During that time, Taiwan established its modern public health system - and Japan influenced it.

In fact, the public health system was developed specifically because of epidemics. To stop them.

From the newspapers of the time, a masking cartoon.

Side note...I had alt text for all the pics. @elonmusk's POS app refuses to send the rest of this thread, so I am not resurrecting Alt text, as I am having to do this manually. Image

Worried about H5N1? Get in the habit of using a food thermometer.

Whole beef cuts: 145°F
Ground beef: 160°F
Chicken, Eggs, Pork: 165°F

Pork was surprisingly hard to run down. Found it below.

Dog meat not discussed. Even our science is biased.
