So the protest at Vaughan Mills has shut down the malls parking lot. People are running thru gridlocked traffic as police sit drinking coffee.
You can’t get over the bridge on Langstaff over the 400. Pickup trucks have blocked access. People are screaming at cars that are stuck. No police anywhere.
You cannot drive anywhere near Vaughan Mills. Flag waving pickup trucks are driving up on sidewalks to bypass gridlock. It’s bedlam.
Our office is in Concord. Everyone has been told not to travel north. Heading back. Hopefully our bridge to get to Woodbridge isn’t blocked as well
All roads into Vaughan mills are blocked. I can’t imagine that the mall will stay open.
There’s about 10 police cars parked in the entrance lot north of the mall. They’re not doing anything. I noticed them as a woman ran out in front of my car, banging on the hood screaming while wearing a yellow star. I’m so fucking angry
They are parked on the bridge near our office. People with toddler/strollers Area is a gridlock. Police doing nothing. People are climbing into the sides of the bridge. This is extremely dangerous
So many little kids roaming around on the road. I almost hit a kid who ran in front of my car. Was about 6years old. Mom screamed at me. And yes, I called her negligent.
I hate these people. All of them. If this was a protest against govts handling of the pandemic and business closures, I’d get it. But I’m seeing conspiracy theory signs. “It’s the flu” “plandemic”. I hate these people

One wonders that there’s not a nefarious reason for stopping in Vaughan. As we have that big Anti-liberal group of developers who run ads & despise Trudeau. They have $.
Or….
All those $10k donations are the standard fee for shipping ‘stuff’ to the East coast/Port of Montreal.
It’s unbelievable this was the beginning of the nightmare. My youngest was just getting better after many hospital visits. I was still quite Sick. My son was back at St.Jean Richelieu garrison. Oldest daughter was watching it spread at her UofT residence
Our family was more hyper aware, as we went thru this viral pneumonia illness at my son’s garrison after trainers returned from international military games in China. But until January we didn’t put it together as this is what it was. The world was still oblivious.
My daughters roommate had returned from Hong Kong for Holiday break. She had warned it was bad, far worse than anyone knew. My daughter & her bought masks/sanitizer in mid-January . I had worried they were being too paranoid.
Boy was I wrong.
Media has been criticized for coverage of the Truck protest, as it being about lifting lockdown etc…ignoring that at its root,is conspiracy theories & dangerous misinformation. Blocking hospital access for emergency transport is domestic terrorism
I lost two family members just in the last week, one needing emergency ambulance transport. Both dying in hospital.
This isn’t a “both sides” story to report. Purposefully stopping access to hospitals for the sick/staff is a criminal act. It’s immoral callous treachery
Enough with police “standing around” doing nothing. Every single one of those commercial vehicles need to be impounded by MTO, the private owners ticketed for dangerous use of a vehicle. These are not freedom fighters, they’re extremists.
It’s the type of morning when you just discovere a journalist you follow on Twitter is spouting the excellence of China’s Covid zero response, with no irony & all seriousness
Anyone believing that all of China lost less than 5000 lives is a fucking paid shill
Yes, I said it.
Anyone paying attention to Initial uncensored reports out of China prior to the pandemic declared will remember the images of people dying in the streets, relatives carrying out dead family members in bed sheets. People welded into apartment buildings.
3years ago I was in this incredible room about to have a Sicilian lunch with colleagues. Two of the people at the table that day, have passed in the last 18mos. When these FB memories pop up, it hits hard. Immense trauma & loss many have suffered
5 neighbors who have died, 28local seniors in our village LTC. Fathers to two beloved Italian families. Processing death claims. One was a cancer patient who couldn’t access care. A dear Uncle in Rome.
A family friend who was in hospital for 5mos, now walks with a cane. Next door neighbor was vented, now has portable oxygen is still recovering. Neighbor across the street is a surgeon, his family beyond stressed. Dear friend, trying to protect her parents.
