"Lord, thanks for showing up, but where were You when we needed You most?"
A "sensible" and justifiable question we sometimes ask
Isaiah 58:9 MSG
Then when you pray, God will answer. You'll call out for help and I'll say, 'Here I am.'
Well, this time Lord, you were not around.
You dint "show up" as promised
Mary, one of Lazarus' sisters, knew too well from following Jesus, that He could heal the sick, the possessed, the blind etc, so, when her brother fell ill, there was no other person to call on, but, Jesus, their very dear friend. she then, quickly
sent words to Jesus before things got out of hand, before things became irredeemable.
John 11:3 MSG
So the sisters sent word to Jesus, "Master, the one you love so very much is sick."
She was fully persuaded He would leave every other thing He was doing and come running,
afterall, Jesus was a close family friend, and besides, that's what friends do. She recalled how they had sheltered Him, fed Him etc. " I know, He will be here soon," she said boldly and openly.
She sat all day by the window from sunrise to sunset, confident He would show up.
Day 1, no appearance of Jesus. Dint He get the message, or did they not tell Him what critical condition Lazarus was?
Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, and by this time, hope had given way to hopelessness. She was, as it were, "mortally disappointed" how can Jesus do this to us, the ones
He has openly showed so much love to? How?
She slowly slid into her crib and wept.
Why would Jesus treat us like this?
If He had showed up on day 1 when my brother died, I know he wld have been able to do something, but, this is day four of his death, and by now, he is already
decomposing. Nothing more can be done.
Suddenly, she was jolted out if her thoughts by the commotion at the gate, she heard Jesus just arrived.
Really?, Like seriously? Four days after, I can't believe this just happened.
John 11:20 MSG
Martha heard Jesus was coming and went out to meet him. Mary remained in the house.
While Martha ran to meet Jesus, Mary, who by this time was unenthusiastic, sat still.
She believed nothing could be done now. "Lord, it's too late, there is no use..."
Anyways, Martha still had some hope left. She had hopes that her brother would be with the Lord in paradise
John 11:21 MSG
Martha said, "Master, if you'd been here, my brother wouldn't have died.
John 11:22
Even now, I know that whatever you ask God He will give you."
At this point, Martha & Jesus were saying and meaning different things.
While Jesus was saying in V23
John 11:23 Jesus said, "Your brother will be raised up."
Martha was saying
John 11:24 Martha replied, "I know that he will be raised up in d resurrection at the end of time."
Jesus had to come down to her level.
He had to put things in perspective
John 11:25 MSG
"You don't have to wait for the End. I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live.
The Lord is saying to you now, you don't
have to wait that long to have all you need. I make things happen.
When it appears God is coming late, it is only for the name of God to be glorified. Only for the divine to operate.
God says to tell you
Zechariah 2:10 MSG
"Shout and celebrate, Daughter of Zion! I'm on my
way. I'm moving into your neighborhood!" God's Decree.
What He will do when He finally shows up, will make all your troubles look like old fade photographs, in Jesus name
Job 11:16 MSG
You'll forget your troubles; they'll be like old, faded photographs.
Isaiah 58:9 MSG
Then when you pray, God will answer. You'll call out for help and I'll say, 'Here I am.'
*When God Shows Up -Day 1*
*Luke 7v11-17 MSG*
Talks about a widow, whose life was filled with losses & misery. She lived in Nain.
👇🏼
She had no name.
👉🏼Her misery was used to describe her.
👉🏼Misery had indeed wrapped itself round her like a fitted garment. She was only identified as *THE WIDOW OF NAIN*
👇🏼
She had lost her hubby, probably a few months or years back, & now, her only son was gone.😥
👇🏼
Nonetheless, this widow of
Nain proceeded to bury her only son.
👇🏼
There were people there pretending to be mourning, meanwhile, they were gossiping amongst themselves..🤷🏽♂️
👉🏼"When did she lose her husband that we are once again burying her only son?
Luke 8:49b KJV
"...Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master."
I wouldn't blame them for this piece of advice to those who were troubling the Master. Afterall, it was obvious to all, the child was dead
1. They probably didn't really
""KNOW" Jesus. 2. They probably knew or heard He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, healed one or two crippled folks, and the best they probably heard of Jesus was that, when He showed up at Peter's workplace, He did what could be termed as an exceptional miracle. Well,
Elijah did similar stuffs anyways, they said. 3. The knew Jesus to be a gentle and easy going and probably did not show any sign of someone that could raise the dead, someone in the semblance of Elijah who called down fire or Elisha who was a bit temperamental and performed some
- Ps. 109:21-31
A Detroit newspaper reportd that a patient in a local hospital was shot and killed as he lay in his bed recovering from a previous gunshot wound. The victim had been listed in fair condition
prior to the shooting and was looking forward to going home. Hospital patients and employees were stunned. A spokesperson said that nothing like this had happened in the 50yrs of the hospital's existence.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could say the same for our churches?
Wouldn't it be encouraging if we were able to say that in 50yrs of meeting together for worship, fellowship and spiritual healing, we had not had a single instance of a wounded member being cut down by the unkindness of a fellow Christian?
(There is a point God is making here. Do you catch His drift?)

6. Here’s my point. A stingy sower will reap a meager harvest, but the one who sows from a generous spirit will reap an abundant harvest.
7 Let giving flow from your heart, not from a sense of
religious duty. Let it spring up freely from the joy of giving—all because God loves hilarious generosity!
8 Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make
you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.
9 Just as the Scriptures say about the one who trusts in him: Because he has sown extravagantly and given to the poor, his kindness and generous deeds will never be forgotten.
Joseph was brought into Potiphar's house as a slave. His entry was an inglorious one.
Before his (Joseph) entry, it could be said of Potiphar that he was a middle income earner. Things changed when he made Joseph the overseer of all he owned.
Genesis 39:5 MSG
From that moment on, God blessed the home of the Egyptian - all because of Joseph. The blessing of God spread over everything he owned, at home and in the fields.
You are a change agent. Do not let the devil or anyone tell you otherwise.
Jacob too, had the same
testimonial.
Genesis 30:27 MSG
Laban said, "If you please, I have learned through divine inquiry that God has blessed me because of you."
They both added great and immense value.
There's value in you. Immense value indeed.
This new week, the value in you will catch the
