Oh yeah...
If you teach about us, the Jewish people in the context of the Shoah/Holocaust you have to admit: 1. White supremacy is evil and has affected the human race, the planet and the fulfillment of the American promise. 2. That America turned away Jews from sanctuary.
Cont.
3. That there is no hierarchy of religions. It is personal and private to decide to be a part of or not be a part of a religious community. 4. That Jewish peoplehood stands on its own terms not in relation to the story of Christianity. 5. That Jews had lives before our traumas.
6. That Hitler's Germany drew both on their colonial practices and racial science atrocities in Africa and Jim Crow in America along with millenia of European anti-Semitism. 7. That using nationalistic and scapegoating tropes and logical fallacies against groups is anti-American
8. That Roma and Sinti people, the disabled, LGBTQ people and members of political and religious groups that resisted Nazism were murdered in mass and bc of that intolerance is dangerous.
9. That a diversity of Jewish cultural and ethnic practices and identity sometimes but not always attached to Judaism have been used to promote ignorance and hatred towards Jews and this practice has been used to foment adjacent hatreds.
10. The attempt to convert people out of Judaism or teaching about Jews converting as necessary for the revelatory fulfillment of prophecy according to other beliefs is wrong.
11. That social justice is not some "Marxist" plot but does owe much of its origins to Jewish traditions rooted in human decency and ethics. Some of that same social justice owes its existence to the traumas of the Holocaust.
But your school board really wants to figure out how to teach the Holocaust without having to admit any of those points and a thousand more so cut the bullshit.

Conservative white evangelicals are overrepresented in the voting demographics because they participate at higher rates&have easements to vote at higher rights given them by legislatures that know they will get what they want by making it all abt them.
Vote. Do not be apathetic.
17 percent of the population determines over a quarter of its election results.
#SupremeCourt the responses of the hypocrites on Fox News...aren't just disappointing&enraging, they are sad&if I may, cruel. If u are not Black, consider me one of your Black neighbors. This drivel hurts to hear.they are talking abt my Mother, Grandmother, sisters, cousins&aunts
My late Mom was the smartest person I think I ever met. She had so many dreams and ambitions but many were stolen by racism&deep sexism inside&outside her world. If people shit on Black women for having an overdue moment of representation they are not Americans to me.
No, we've had enough dehumanizing and knocking down of Black women. I am tired of people taking it lightly. The most valuable commodity in this country was once our mothers wombs &150 years after that value was canceled the likes of Janine Pirro (I don't care) ? competency

Its from 2003. Things weren't so great in the interpretation of American slavery. Exhibits&language u see now wasn't as common. Its so important to realize that our societal mood matters..like the moment we are in right now.
GO TO PLANTATIONS AND KEEP THEM HONEST
PUSH BACK AGAINST LITERATURE THAT INAPPROPRIATELY WHITEWASHES HISTORY.
I want to thank Chloe from GWU...but....wow.. @mimva@MuseumLara@HistoryGonWrong@old_line_plate get ready 1. This is not an "outrage," tweet. 2. Those of u who know my work interpreting the food culture of the enslaved know how important this is to me.
3.are you ready for this?
Whats wrong with this picture? 1. He had enslaved labor& indentured Scotsmen doing his gardening until retirement. 2. James Hemings, was a young master chef. A "bright mulatto," who shared a father with Jefferson's wife. 3. Jefferson only entered the kitchen to change the clock.
Hey everyone...important notice. A thread: We have been in contentious times for a while. I know some if u vigorously disagree w/each other. I don't cosign 100% on other people's stuff just bc I follow them or them me. If you have an issue w/someone DM me rather than pull me in.
I have never gone into somebody's profile&done that to them. Its like being at a party&pulling someone on stage and saying, "And this is the company you keep? Explain yourself." You wouldn't do that in public but apparently its a tactic on here. I prefer DM if there's a problem.
One time someone shamed me out of unfollowing a local account bc they disagreed w/a post. "Why is Koshersoul following them?" "Whats going on with that?" It took me some time to realize that I was being policed& manipulated...not everyone does that, but its left a bad taste...
#InternationalHolocaustRemembranceDay I want acknowledge that part of my dedicated interests in traditional Jewish foodways drew inspiration from Joan Nathan's recipe adaptation of the Beigel family challah. Its my favorite and it was saved by a family decimated in the Shoah.
So for me, I understood what it meant to grasp onto these culinary memories because they represented people and life beyond trauma. People living from day to day. It was this inner dialogue that fertilized my work interpreting the food and lives of the American enslaved.
u know, this isn't a brag. Its hard to confess that u are already complete but u also feel this urge to belong& share&adapt&be a part of something only exceptional when practiced right--America. The jewelry, the prize is to tell the story better than when it was told to u.
