THREAD I can't handle a narrative "Putin is bad, but Yeltsin and Gorbatchov were good!" It is wrong, amoral, and typical West. Gorbatchov was a cold-blood Soviet henchman. He sent tanks against peaceful protestors in Vilnius and Riga. He smashed sculls of Georgians with shovels.
Gorbatchov was a person who covered Chernobyl nuclear disaster and sent thousands of civilians, incl. children, to an open-air May 1st Communist parade in Kyiv exposing them to radiation. He ordered to cover the story, to distribute radioactive meat form farms betw Soviet stores.
Gorbatchov was a person who initiated a hate campaign against dissident Sakharov, virtually killing him. He was very soft towards the West (he needed money after all), but a henchman and a criminal towards his own nation. He is anything but a good person. A bastard.
Yeltsin was anything but a democrat as well. He set the same imperialist politics like Putin does. It was Yeltsin who sent troops to Moldova, annexing Transnistria region (Russian troops stay in Transnistria up to date!) His allies were Russian Neonazis like Rogozin and Girkin.
Under Yeltsin, the same Neonazis collected their war experience in Bosnia, Kosovo and other Balkan countries. They later used their experience in Ukraine. Yeltsin has started other Russian wars against neighbour countries. He stared a war against Georgia, not Putin!
In 1992-93, Russian troops under Yeltsin supreme command, annexed Georgian region of Abkhasia. On 21-23 September 1993, Russians have shot down THREE Georgian civil airplanes: 2 Tupolev-134 and 1 Tupolev-154 at the airport of Sukhumi, having killed about 150 persons. Before MH17!
It was Yeltsin, who has appointed a far-right SVR-groomed prime minister Yevgeny Primakov, a Russian hawk who dreamed of World War III (his grandson Yevgeny is now the Head of Russian international cooperation agency Rossotrudnichestvo, urging to carpet-bomb Ukrainian cities).
Yeltsin's Defense Minister Grachov was allegedly involved in assassination of a journalist Dmitry Kholodov. Kholodov revealed massive corruption in the Ministry and was killed by a bomb, exploded in his office. High-ranked airborn troops officers were involved (Grachov's troops).
The biggest crime of Yeltsin remains Chechen war, without a doubt. Under Yeltsin, Russian troops have pillaged Chechen republic, killed 30,000 to 120,000 civilians. The capital Grozny looked like this after Yeltsin's troops have left it:
Yeltsin's "siloviki" (army, FSB and police) have learned how to torture, rape, rob and control people amid the very Chechen war. They have brought all the habits of rape, killing, kidnapping from this war. They have learned they will enjoy immunity and rule the country.
Yeltsin was also the president, who rigged presidential elections in post-Soviet Russia for the first time, in 1996. These elections were the first to be rigged and the last with an unclear outcome. All Putin's rigged elections later were practically invented by Yeltsin.
And of course, Yeltsin was the president, who had invented Putin. Yeltsin tried to find an undemocratic "successor" many times, searching in all directions (Kiriyenko, Aksyonov, Primakov etc.) but finally found KGB officer Putin, who has got all Yeltsin's trust.
Yeltsin has practically appointed Putin as a president, having first appointed Putin as a PM and then resigned and given all the presidential power to PM, even literally in front of TV cameras in his own office (see the pic). This was the famous "successor plan".
So please, stop calling Gorbachov or Yeltsin "good guys" or "true democrats". They were criminals, butchers, henchmen. They've killed hell of a lot of people and did not give a shit about freedom, democracy or peace. The fact that the West loves them is because they killed others
UPD: just forgot, in 1999 Yeltsin has clearly revealed his imperialist views to Clinton. Yeltsin's views were no differ from Putin's ones:
UPD2: In 1986, in Kazakh Almaty Gorbatchov police has cracked down peaceful protests and killed up to 200 persons. The reason for the protest was the fact that Gorbatchov has dismissed a Kazakh party leader in Kazakhstan and appointed a Russian one without any Kazakh experience.

One of Ukraine's biggest liberal media publishes this unprecedented harsh editorial: "Germany pushes (Europe) into a war and destroys its future in Ukraine. This must stop". The media stresses it is a consolidated position of editors. Read this, @ABaerbock

Good old subtile racism at @ARD_Presse? Chief reporter at @ard_Warschau Jan @pallokat defends Russian myths on Crimea annexation. Confronted with my criticism, he starts to call me "Mr. Sergej". For me - a clear sign that my Eastern European heritage is stressed (cont.)
In Ukrainian or in Polish one can politely address a person "Mr.+FirstName" (Pane Sergiju in Ukrainian for example) But using this form in another language to a German person would be a deliberate stressing of his/her ancestry. Note: he calls Putin "Mr. Putin", not "Mr. Vladimir"
In our previous discussion (in German) I have addressed him as "lieber Herr Pallokat" (dear Mr. Pallokat), what is the only polite way to address a person in German. I know this "Mr.+FirstName" practice of subtile racist attitude from many situation. A friend of mine told me...

If Russia wants to install a pro-Russian govt in Ukraine, they would not bet on dead horses like Azarov. The would:
1) Initiate an attack which Zelensky would not be able to fight back
2) An SBU or Army general (presumably a patriot, but on RUS payroll) would revolt
3) Win (cont)
Ukraine is a living democracy and can't be ruled by dictatorship means. But this democracy's weakness is the lack of political programmatic parties, and the rule of many eader's parties. This is a fruitful soil for populists on Russia's or oligarchs' payroll (like Zelensky was).
As a lot of Ukrainian SBU and Army officers are still obviously well connected to /controlled by Russia, it will not be a problem to find a person from Zelensky's (anyway pro-Russian) team who would play a card "I am not a politician, I am a guy like you, and I will bring order".

Wow. According to German media, Merkel had not only blocked Nato-integration of UKR and GEO, but also blocked delivery of innocent and purely defensive weapons like anti-drones electronic rifles. Actually, anti-drones rifles would have HELPED to fulfil Minsk ("no foreign drones")
I would be really happy to know what were Merkel's motives here. This cannot be explained by naivity. Anti-drones rifles were ordered by Ukraine, paid already, and other Nato nations had nothing against the delivery. Once again: these devices could help to fulfil Minsk agreement!
Just a reminder: Russian modern drones used in Ukrainian Donbas against Ukrainian army, are powered by German engines: tagesschau.de/investigativ/r…

THREAD: A new HUGE corruption (and most probably spy) scandal around Zelensky. On Dec.8 Deputy Minister of Interior Gogilashvili did not stop his car at a check point in Donetsk region. After being stopped, he started to shout at, insult, threat and physically attacked policemen.
A video of incident went public on Dec.11. Free media started to uncover Gogiashvili's past. A HUGE stinking past had been revealed. In 2000s, Gogiashvili lived in Russian Rostov and was a PR officer at a probably criminal group of private prisons for drug addicts 2000-2010.
In 1998 he was convicted in Russia for fraud. There are concerns how could he work with a highly sensitive topic of drugs in Russia as a convict without cooperation with FSB. He also actively cooperated with Russian Kremlin party United Russia. Here: together with senator Karelin
