Here's our big announcement for February! We're welcoming Riese and Müller's fleet of cargo bikes to our shop in 2022! r-m.de/en-ca/bikes/?s…
Here's the link to our February newsletter to get the TL;DR. We're *super* excited to offer this lineup to you, and know that R&M will be amazing when you choose it for your family's next vehicle. londonbicyclecafe.com/campaigns/view…
Why Riese and Müller? It's about great design, that's built to last. R&M's offerings are a step above in terms of craftsmanship, and it only takes a few second on board to understand why.
All R&M bikes feature @BoscheBikeUS motor systems. Bosch is making the best e-bike systems in the world right now - it's the highest quality ride, offers more transmission options than any other, and have the best dealer support network of any e-bike systems available.
Put differently, we've looked long and hard at so many different systems, and Bosch is one of only two (Shimano being the other) that we'll recommend for a reliable transport bike. Bosch simply gives the best value (which is different than lowest price) for e-bikes today.
R&M puts the top @BoscheBikeUS technologies into some of the best bikes in the world, resulting in beautiful creations. For example, most of our stock R&M bikes feature the newest "Nyon" computer with built-in navigation! bosch-ebike.com/ca/products/ny…
@BoscheBikeUS With all these amazing features, let's meet the lineup that we'll start with in 2022.
We'll try to answer, "What can this bike do," and, "Who is this bike for?" in a short thread. 🧵
The Flagship Load 75 is as near to a perfect design as we've found in the cargo bike world. It's a dual suspension (ohhh soooo smoooth!) front loader, with super-adjustable geometry to share within your family. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/rie…
What can the Load 75 do?
🚲⚡️
- carry three kids, up to 440 lbs (Gross Vehicle Weight)
- go up to 140 km on a single charge (Dual Battery)
- carry packages, tools, and goods for your business (lockable front box available)
- replace your car for everyday transport needs
Who is Load 75 for?
🚲⚡️
- parents with young kids (Load 75 is supremely adjustable and shareable!)
- small business with delivery needs
- tradespeople
- individuals who want to replace a car
- adventure seekers; imagine a bike tour with this machine!
One of the incredible things about R&M is that every bike can be customized (quite a bit) to meet your needs. We've picked stock bikes that work for our climate/conditions, but there are many different options! r-m.de/en-ca/bikes/lo…
Load 75 comes with spectacular Supernova lighting (Picture Alec Guinness saying "That's no a moon, it's a cargo bike!"), dual suspension (for fun, comfort, and safety!), and optional Nyon navigation computer. There's no better way to experience a bike ride.
The R&M website has a superb bike-builder to help you design the right bike for you. Our incoming stock bikes are configurable to your specifications until March 1, after which you can choose our design, or wait a little while to get your perfect bike. r-m.de/en-ca/bikes/lo…
The thing that all the R&M bikes do best is replace car trips and makes them FUN. There's absolutely nothing fun about being stuck in traffic, struggling to find parking, or getting kids in and out of their seats. With a cargo bike, you're out the door faster, wind in your hair.
It's one thing for us to say "bikes are awesome," but another to have a lot of research backing it up. E-bikes are replacing car trips everywhere. "People who buy an e-bike more than double their use of a bicycle for transport." sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Once you start riding a bike, you'll be healthier, and happier, too. "263,450 subjects had a 41% lower chance of premature death, 52% lower risk of dying from heart disease and a 40% lower risk of dying from cancer." shifter.info/forget-all-the…
For all the reasons, health, happiness, climate, fitness, and FUN, the Load 75 shines like a star. Our demo model will arrive in the next few weeks (with a Rohloff Speedhub!), and our first stock bikes will arrive in early May! londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/rie…
Next up, the Riese and Müller Load 60! We think it's the most fun to ride out of the R&M lineup. It's a little bit smaller and a little bit lighter than the Load 75, and you really feel it when you're on board. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/rie…
The full-suspension really comes into play here on a more nimble bike - it's almost playful in its handling, and feels like you're riding anything but a cargo bike. Where is the guy in this photo even going? Wherever he wants. That's what's amazing about the Load 60👇
The Load 60 is sleek in all of its configurations, whether you want kids, cargo, or an empty platform, the Load 60 is going to give you an incredible ride #ToTheGroceryStoreAndBeyond.
Just like the other R&M offerings, Load 60 is powered by the @BoscheBikeUS Cargo Line motor, and we recommend the Nyon computer unit.
What's great about Nyon?
- navigation & weather
- advanced ride stats
- screen showing cost savings vs driving: motivating!
- security lock
@BoscheBikeUS Load 60 is ideal for two kids or less. With the new footwell system, there's a bit of extra leg room, and a bit of extra space for storage, plus the five-point harnesses are super secure when you're leaning into turns. Rain cover provides some protection from the elements, too.
Across the R&M lineup you get transmission options. Awesome ones. The Load 60 can be equipped with a derailleur for three-season use, or choose Rohloff Speedhub or Enviolo CVP (called "Vario" in R&M literature) with @CarbonDrive for four season transport. londonbicyclecafe.com/news/2021/12/3…
What can the Load 60 do?
🚲⚡️
- carry two kids, up to 440 lbs (Gross Vehicle Weight)
- go up to 140 km on a single charge (Dual Battery)
- carry packages, tools, and goods for your business (lockable front box available)
- replace your car for everyday transport needs
Who is the Load 60 for?
🚲⚡️
- parents with young kids (Load 60 is supremely adjustable and shareable!)
- small business with delivery needs
- tradespeople
- individuals who want to replace a car
- adventure seekers; ideal for tours
- riders who want performance, too!
The venerable @DaveLikesBikes posted this video of his Load 60 for us yesterday, and as you can see, there aren't a lot of limits to what you can do with this bike. With the amazing gravel riding around London, could imagine some serious adventures!
When it comes to replacing a car, Load 60 is superb. It does 98% of what your car does at a fraction of the price, and is an absolute DREAM to ride! Demo model coming soon, stock bikes in early May!
Meet the Marvelous Mmmulticharger! (90's mall kid reference). A stylish full-sized e-bike that's capable of bringing your life with you, too. The stability at speed offered by a bigger wheeled cargo bike is just👌, and the cargo and kid carrying capacity is 💯, too!
This bike fills an obvious gap in our lineup: one that allows people who want to ride a full size e-bike carry their kids sometimes, too. While it's possible to fit a child seat onto some of the rear racks of e-bikes we offer, the Multicharger is *designed* with cargo in mind.
The smart cargo solutions on the Multicharger means dropping your kid off at daycare, and then meet a client for morning coffee, all without breaking a sweat. It's an elegant transport solution that will help you ride every day.
The newest Multicharger has some incredible tricks up its sleeve. It features the newest Bosch 750 Wh powertube battery, for up to 150 km on a single charge. It also features the Bosch Kiox system for connected navigation, e-bike stats and more! bosch-ebike.com/en/products/ki…
Who is the Multicharger/Mixte for?
- people who like tech/data
- families with one or two small kids
- people who want to tour longer distances
- professionals carrying documents/office materials
- people who 'want one bike to rule them all': speed, kids, cargo, fun!
What can Multicharger/Mixte do for you?
- travel 240 km on a single charge (dual battery)
- carry up to two small kids (or one small adult)
- carry 140 lbs on the rear rack, 352 lbs total weight
- go on adventures
- everyday commutes
- haul a week's groceries for a family of six
We think this bike might be a "sleeper" hit in 2022. While R&M are very well-known for their box bikes, the Multicharger is a bike that you have to get to know to appreciate how versatile it can be. It's stylish and sleek. Capable and connected. Just like you.
Our Multicharger demo is arriving in only a few days - and we can't wait to share it with you!! Thanks @propelbike for putting together a sweet video that can help explain why this bike is so capable, have a look!
You can check out the Multicharger and Multicharger Mixte on our site here to see what's coming and how to order yours: londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/rie…
Finally, we picked a personal e-bike that fits with our shop's "why" of replacing car trips. The Nevo GT Vario is a fantastic four season personal transport solution. With @CarbonDrive and @NuVinciTech's Enviolo Continuously Variable hub, we know you'll love this bike!
Nevo GT Vario offers a mostly upright riding experience, paired with superb bike technology, and some of the best "nice to have" stuff, too. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/rie…
The extras Nevo Vario GT brings?
- Bosch Nyon computer compatibility
- Cane Creek Thudbuster seatpost standard
- Optional dual battery (special order!)
- Front rack optional (heck yes!)
- Beefier front suspension for smoothing the Wonderland N "bike path."
- Beautiful design.
Plus, Supernova lighting for riding unlit paths, and the R&M "cockpit" design that allows for comfortable viewing of your computer.
If you like the look of the Nevo, and want to build one yourself, the R&M bike builder is available here. Once you've built your bike, come see us to try it out and feel why we see it as 21st century transport for a civilized society. r-m.de/en-ca/bikes/ne…
Somehow, over a few days, this thread has stayed together in a single piece. It has the requisite number of typos (at least three?) and will be broken down into a blog post really soon. For now, here's @threadreaderapp 's unroll function so you can share with your friends!

Hey y'all, Ben here. Guess what? Another break-in. Yep, for real, we can't make this up. We'd all been having a lovely long weekend when at around 9pm last night our phones started ringing. Thread. 🧵👇
We had what we believe to be a false alarm on Friday - maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But last night was our SIXTH break-in since the start of the pandemic.
-
SIX.
We're out of insurance claims, so all of this is out of pocket for us. Again.
There are so many underlying issues with this particular break-in it's hard to know where to start. We have a failure of our social system/supports. We have a failure of our police services to act. And we have a bureaucratic nightmare at City Hall.
Looking for an e-bike RIGHT NOW? We have some immediate availability on select sizes/colours. If you have a bike on order, and would like to switch to one of these, there is *no charge* to switch!

So City Staff have come to Cycling Advisory Committee with no protected bike lanes on the table for @DundasPlace. They keep calling it a "detour" but what they're looking for is "last link in the network they've spent all their time and money building without a plan"
It's important to note "cars will be directed to York" is basically hopes and prayers. There will be nothing deterring through traffic on Dundas, which will be busy busy all summer long, especially as we get back to normal. Blocking the entrances wasn't considered feasible.
The other four options are hot steaming garbage. None provide protection of any sort, and all will be used for extra illegal parking. Paint is not infrastructure, QED, none of these options are infrastructure. An "occasional planter" doesn't cut it.
It's #InternationalWomensDay , and we want to do a thread to say thanks to some of the wonderful women who #LdnOntBike and help build a stronger community of citizen cyclists. 👇
First, @JoyBringingHope. Joy is an advocate for people of all ages and abilities riding bikes. She's grown into her role as a leader in our community over the past four years, and we're so thrilled every time she rolls by!
Not on Twitter that often anymore is @rhbike. She led so many activities within the city's cycling advisory committee, and helped advocate for people injured walking or cycling. Grateful for her friendship, and hard work. (far left, bike prom, 2019!)
Tired of fighting for every little bit of safety. Would really like professionals to design safe options and have politicians own the decision to make it unsafe, rather than have council waste its time talking about bizarre counterflow door zone paint. #LdnOntBike
Here's something that would work given existing constraints.
- new TVP connection is an MUP on the south side of the street. Just continue it to Wellington.
- Planters? Already exist, just move 'em.
- Parking? Yeah, we got that on the north side.
- Driving? Yeah, you can still
The above design works until Wellington, but it wouldn't be difficult to solve there. There are already separate signal lights, and separate green phases to allow bike traffic to split into bike lanes on both sides of the road is trivial.
Our big shipment of @ternbicycles arrives on Thursday! Can't wait to get you out on one, they're unbelievably fun to ride, electric, or analog... Who wants a preview thread? 🧵

Let's start with this: what model are you most excited about?
Let's start with the flagship GSD (Get Stuff Done). It's worth its weight in gold, with the ability to carry two kids in comfort and style inside the optional Clubhouse Fort, and comes equipped with the Bosch Cargo Line motor standard. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/ter…
The GSD comes with a second battery slot built-in, so if you need extra juice, adding more power is a snap! The payload of the GSD is second-to-none, rated to 200 kg (440 lbs), meaning you answer yes to "what do you have in there, rocks?" and still get where you need to go.
