Tired of fighting for every little bit of safety. Would really like professionals to design safe options and have politicians own the decision to make it unsafe, rather than have council waste its time talking about bizarre counterflow door zone paint. #LdnOntBike Image
Here's something that would work given existing constraints.
- new TVP connection is an MUP on the south side of the street. Just continue it to Wellington.
- Planters? Already exist, just move 'em.
- Parking? Yeah, we got that on the north side.
- Driving? Yeah, you can still Image
The above design works until Wellington, but it wouldn't be difficult to solve there. There are already separate signal lights, and separate green phases to allow bike traffic to split into bike lanes on both sides of the road is trivial.
Second plan? Block the entrances (but not the exits) to motor vehicle traffic at Ridout and Wellington.
Pros: preserves all parking, allows deliveries, eliminates through traffic, fewer cars = better patio experience
Cons: mixed traffic riding (although much lower volumes) Image
Yes, it will be a PAIN to get onto Dundas, but you can still do it! And that's the point. It should be difficult to drive downtown, full stop. No great city in the world is easy to drive in. See also: Copenhagen. ImageImage
We'd welcome other solutions that don't involve painted counterflow bike lanes in the door zone. What has your city done to invite families to ride bikes into their downtown cores?
Also realized above that the Dundas Streetmix has traffic flipped in the wrong direction. Here's the corrected one. Image

This is a huge frustration for us as we head into the spring construction season.
- King Street will be under construction almost all year.
- The King Street Bike Lane will be PERMANENTLY removed in 34 days
- The City hasn't considered that most of our customers arrive by bike.
Their recommended access is YORK Street (hah, ride on the sidewalk if you can fit), or dismount and cross the construction zone (good luck with a loaded cargo bike). Neither of these are safe/accessible options for most people.
The @CityofLdnOnt consulted with us in the fall, where I expressed deep concern about the permanent loss of King Street, w/o replacement. They had no answers, no plans. Now without any consultation (we have an advisory committee to vet these things), we get this door zone mess.
So am I upset? Absolutely. We're having 100% of our access cut off from April to October. After that, there's STILL no solution for safe bike travel downtown.
There are more than 13,000 (!) public parking spots within a couple blocks of @DundasPlace, yet somehow, parking ON Dundas is so essential we can't lose a space, AND it's so vital we're going to give it away for free. Don't worry, there's always the sidewalk to store your car... Image

Let's start with this: what model are you most excited about?
Let's start with the flagship GSD (Get Stuff Done). It's worth its weight in gold, with the ability to carry two kids in comfort and style inside the optional Clubhouse Fort, and comes equipped with the Bosch Cargo Line motor standard. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/ter…
The GSD comes with a second battery slot built-in, so if you need extra juice, adding more power is a snap! The payload of the GSD is second-to-none, rated to 200 kg (440 lbs), meaning you answer yes to "what do you have in there, rocks?" and still get where you need to go.

New this year is the Shimano EP8 motor - 85 Nm of torque (WOWZERS!) coupled with a Shimano XT Di2 12-speed derailleur for maximum speed, range, and maneuverability. Who said cargo bikes have to drive like minivans? Also pictured, a new LizzardKing colourway! Yum!

Today the Secretary General of the United Nations called for oil production to be ramped down immediately due to the severity of the climate emergency. Another cyclist was killed by a negligent traffic engineer. We need immediate action on both issues, now

The @CityofLdnOnt has 3500+ km of roads, & 7.5 km of protected bike lanes planned/funded before 2030. That's simply not good enough. We need to rethink our streets, from the ground up. Small tweaks & disconnected half-measure infrastructure won't fix the problems we face.

Working on a bunch of web-store updates. Pre-orders for 2021 will be live soon (we don't have a lot left in store, send a DM if you're looking for something sooner than spring!). Most stoked about Bullitt EP8 - 85 Nm of torque and Di2 XT 12-speed gearing... launch time.
What a spectacular lineup.
Which Bullitt are you? List your top 3! #LdnOntBike
