This Black History Month let’s see if I can share 28 of my favorite living black artists!

I’m a start with @asieybarbie, self taught concept & character artist whose glossy depictions of black women as super heroes, extraterrestrial beauties and just bossy has always drawn me ImageImage
Jvzmina was on my list of black artists to celebrate this month, but we’re doing it today because I love this post she made ⬇️ featuring a bunch of her art. It has honestly been love at first sight, as her beautiful portraits, concept artwork (1/2)
And fan art always go beyond the boundary of the “category” they might fall in. With an eye for color and texture, attention to emotion and mood, jvzmina’s work is in a world of Its own (2/2)
The third artist I wanna talk about for #BHM is @gdbeeart! I’ve been following her since the beginning and it’s been so fun to see her work evolve and become even more otherworldly and amazing every year. She makes black girls the center of the coolest spacey, (1/2) ImageImageImage
celestial, colorful and exciting artwork and graphics with details that keep you staring and coming back to pieces. She also writes a comic called Hovergirls!

P.S. her shipping for prints and other items is crazy fast!!! Look what I got yesterday four days after ordering (2/2)
Today i wanna spotlight South African artist @ArtDonson! She makes the most compelling portraits of bipoc woman; her feed is like a beautiful palette, a beautiful rainbow of all the varying flavors and faces we come in! We’re not a monolith and she reminds me of that #bhm ImageImageImageImage
#BHM artist spotlight day 5! Moving away (briefly) from digital art I wanna spot the amazing Artist Ria. Her work is spiritual, it’s transcendant, it’s elevated. Her work evokes the peace and introspection that is needed to look beyond the worlds craziness mobileprints.com/profiles/artis… ImageImageImage
#BHM DAY 6
ronide from Anxious Black Girl on IG is a heaven sent!! Her comics are not only fun, but more than that validating of real experiences, emotions and feelings that we all experience from a black woman’s perspective. I look forward to every post, each one is like a hug ImageImageImageImage
#BHM DAY 7 … I’m obsessed with Brittany from Zola Art Factory’s work! Her depictions of women are so glossy and juicy, so dreamy yet so relatable! I want them all over my house @TheCreativeChic ImageImageImageImage
#BHM day 8 faith ringgold is my queeen!!! Her work spans over so many decades and her work speaks loudly in highlighting the trials of, but also the beauty within the black community. I love her story and her perspective ImageImageImageImage
#bhm day 9 artist spotlight is Monica Igekwu. It’s crazy - In spite of the show stopping, polarizing nature of her work, she actually is still a student! Her renderings, level of detail and overall lens through which she portrays subjects is unique, distinct and draws you ImageImageImageImage
#bhm favorite artist #10 is Ciarra Walters. ciarra is much more than an artist of one media, she does painting but more often does video and photo series and performance art, while also being an amazing writer, curator and art commentator. I’m obsessed vimeo.com/652774102 ImageImage
#bhm day 11 spotlight on Sareka Unique! She’s such a gem of an artist, with her vivid abstract paintings that instantly boost your mood. The patterns and color ways she creates are so intricate and look great on the apparel, housewares and other items she designs ImageImageImageImage
#bhm day 12 another abstract artist I love is Antonia Marie, she has some of the most amazing pieces that just put me in a trance!! ImageImageImage
#bhm day 13 I’d like to shed a light on an artist whose work I just connected with this past year! Her work ranges from 60s inspired pop art, to pensive still life and metaphorical portraits. I look forward to seeing more from @ArtLaish in the coming years! ImageImageImage
Love these little doo dads I just got in the mail from her
#bhm day 14 artist is my sis and bestie @simoneagoussoye who has been blowing me away with her talent for years, but especially recently with her concept collection of black on black imagery and portraits spotlighting black beauty ImageImageImageImage
Okay let me play catchuppp
#bhm day 15
I became obsessed with @andreoshea’s work about a year ago, he has really exploded creatively during that time. He’s led the charge in 3D art imho, and the worlds he creates are just so inviting, I want to go. Lately he dropped these still life that just blew me away! ImageImageImageImage
#bhm day 16
There’s something really special about @whateverjewel’s work! In its familiarity, of emotions, of moments, of environment. Beyond that, her choice of fluorescent color palette as her signature and the visible brushwork makes her work distinctly compelling ImageImageImageImage
#bhm day 17 I’m always looking for artwork I feel looks like me and my friends in all their beauty. @ubiomokpuri some of my favorite work depicting women in general but Esp fat women! I want to see these on my walls ImageImageImageImage
#bhm day 18
@nkjuls digital artwork is so stunningly intricate, intwined, and ethereally breathtaking it puts me in the mind of the Renaissance paints of old, with the detail of paintings in the Sistine chapel. I’m so in love with how she blends portraits and florals. ImageImageImage
#bhm day 19
collage art is a very special style to me, one of my first loves. One of my fave collageists is del nunes, based in Brazil, who depicts the vast spectrum of black Brazilian people fused with the most beautiful settings and elements of the country ImageImageImageImage
#bhm 20th artist
@surrealistshay is another artist who I’ve thoroughly enjoyed over the past few years! Her collage work is unique, it’s otherworldly, it’s transportive, and a beautiful modern day iteration of the surrealist movement ImageImageImageImage
#bhm artist #21

@ChuckStyless portraiture is really legendary already. With his signature paint strokes, patterns and designs that adorn our favorite icons he brings life to his paintings and sheds new light on the subjects. I’m so happy I got to see his work in person ImageImageImage
#bhm
The best way I can describe David Coleman’s art is empowering. He specializes in depictions of black women in varying styles, many are in motion, but some are in thought, others in a dream, but the energy and the spirit of the work is always a palpable admiration & love ImageImageImage
#bhm
I had the privilege of seeing Michael Booker’s art at the Phillips collection last year. His pieces are always worth more than a moments time to enjoy, as you examine his meticulous use of ink, watercolor and other media; and decipher the stories that are hidden in each one ImageImageImageImage
#bhm
I saw Zsudayka Nzinga’s work last year as well and at first glance, her patchwork styled masterpiece looked like a complex abstract collage. At second and third longer glance, I found a child hidden in the piece, and a deeper story in the notes. Much of her work (1/2) ImageImageImageImage
Is like this, hiding stories and subjects in beautiful patterns that are part mosaic part collage.I love how as a mom she often features children in her work
#bhm James Terrell is a local artist whose work im resolved and dying to see! His works are larger than life, and his use of color, lines and geometric elements is so exciting to me! I love work like this, and I love especially when I see black men being so expressive! ImageImageImageImage
#bhm day 26
Adeweli alli’s artwork is a dream! For the lover of texture, of symbolism, of abstract work, his vivid, nearly three dimensional pieces nearly jump off the canvas into your hands, while also roping you into their world ImageImageImage
#bhm day 27
I’m so enamored with @izzakko ‘s work, especially the black based pieces with the subjects in other shades of black and embellished with colorful accessories. They’re a vision to consume, and just enchanting really. I have a special place for black on black work 😍 ImageImageImageImage
I can’t believe it’s #bhm day 28 !!! On this last day I want to spotlight @DunnieTheArtist. Her body of work is full what i like to call conversation pieces, because each piece speaks so loudly and to so many things, while also sparking so much thought! ImageImageImageImage
This was sooooo fun I can’t wait till next #BlackHistoryMonth to do it again
