When I spoke out against this group in the past, many people portrayed me as an alarmist.
They claimed that the "take back Crimea" lobby is not the mainstream of U.S. foreign policy.
Apparently, nobody bothered to inform President Putin, who takes the issue quite seriously.
"In Ukraine’s own doctrine, they have written that they plan to return Crimea, including by military means," Putin observed.
"Let’s imagine that Ukraine is a NATO country and starts these military operations—should we then go to war against NATO?"
The unstated implication of Putin's words is that there is a direct path from Ukraine in NATO to WW3.
If Ukraine were to pursue its formalized military doctrine, but with the backing of NATO allies and NATO weapons, Europe would be plunged into total war.

Ex-CIA analyst warns that the conflict in Ukraine could spill over to war with NATO.
She makes this sound like it would be an accident.
But the Biden administration is *planning* cross-border operations from Poland and Romania!
Mark my words: They want to set up training camps in NATO member states, send NATO-equipped fighters to conduct cross-border attacks on Russian forces inside a war zone...
... but think this won't risk NATO-Russia conflict?
If the goal is "plausible deniability," I have bad news: Two can play that game.
Russia will not need to launch *overt* attacks on NATO training camps inside Romania or Poland.
It can use its own proxy forces, just like NATO is threatening to do.
