This book is about 100 years old, but I'm thinking it might come in handy for some of our intrepid local school reformers, especially in the more Southern climes.

In case you wondering what the 1920 version of "I've done my own research and the Civil War was NOT about slavery despite what those dangerous leftist intellectuals want you to think" looked like.
"The Civil War was not about slavery, and also slavery was the North's fault, and also slavery was really not so bad." Got that?
These sentences from McCrae's book were written about the 1920s. Change a few names of organizations, and they could pretty accurately describe the 2020s as well.
Also, those sentences were published in 2018 (probably written in 2017 or earlier), so there is no way that her intent was to comment obliquely on our current, 2020s iteration of the history wars.
