In 2021, many parents fought hard to return school to normal. We were vilified and bullied. If any parent dared to speak out, we were shut out of school board meetings. We were called teacher-haters, child-killers, anti-vaxxers, even domestic terrorists. 1/🧵
We were attacked by anti-racist groups - because apparently wanting a normal life and in-person school for our children is something that only white-privileged racists would dare say. We fought the good fight. Went to battle. 2/
We were told 2 weeks to slow the spread. After that, many of our kids didn't see the inside of a classroom again for over a year. Then finally schools opened - but with restrictions and rules. 3/
Kids forced to wear masks, for 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, after they spent an entire Summer mask-free. Kids who got sick lost 10 more days of education. Meanwhile, friends in other States were going to school without masks. Parents were left to explain #science 4/
Now in 2022, we rally to fight again. Still being vilified for wanting to #UNMASKOURCHILDREN. We are the Mama Bears and the Papa Bears. We are the Freedom Fighters. We will not be threatened or bullied into silence any longer. They have taken 2 years from our children. 5/
Parents are forced to hear "KIDS ARE FINE" day in and day out, while their children are being sent outside for lunch, to sit on the blacktop - in the snow, rain, cold, heat - all because of the fear of grown adults and #science. BUT they are resilient. They are FINE. Right? 6/
Children are told that they can’t talk in class or talk during lunch. They are barred from socialization. They are told that they are vectors for disease. They are literally afraid to be sick. Not with CV. Just sick. Normal sick. Like with a cold, fever, sore throat, pinkeye. 7/
Kids are afraid to complain about not feeling well, bc society has told them they can't possibly get sick EVER AGAIN!! If they are sick, it most definitely is Covid and they could kill everyone around them. This is abuse. The kids are broken. Trust me - they are not FINE. 8/
We keep hearing the kids are resilient. They are FINE! How many children have you met with and asked if they are “FINE”? Just because your child or children are FINE, it doesn't mean they all are. Have you ever met a deeply depressed person who is "FINE" on the surface? 9/
Many children do not have the ability, agency, or courage to express all the ways they feel wronged due to masking and other restrictions. Kids do not speak up when they are being abused by a parent, teacher, stranger. They suffer in silence. But THEY ARE FINE. 10/
They are forced to attend PE with masks on. Play sports with masks on. Go to museums with masks on. Go to stores with masks on. Go to the zoo & playground, OUTDOORS with masks on. Many are shut out of participating in society without a 💉. But don't worry THEY ARE FINE! 11/

The goal posts keep moving. Parents keep complying. Our kids are being kept muzzled with no off-ramp. They are forced to maintain vigilance, when the same rules don't apply to adults. They are not FINE. Our kids are not pawns. They are not yours to negotiate with. 13/
