In honour of Outlander's return in March we thought we'd share a few interesting facts you might not know about the show. ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ’™
The large central standing stone which transports Claire back in time is inspired by the Callanish Standing Stones on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Credit: Daily Record
Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan were producers for season five. ๐ŸŽฅ

Balfe joked that if the season was good they would take full credit, but added: "If there are any complaints, donโ€™t call us." ๐Ÿ˜‚ Credit: Channel 4
David Berry who plays fan favourite Lord John Grey is Australian. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

When the character was being cast there weren't many Scottish actors available, so the casting directors had to look further afield.

Many Outlander actors have admitted to wearing their kilts in the traditional way.

Sam Heughan said: "Iโ€™m a true Scotsman, and one of the joys of working on the show is wearing the kilt... It can actually be very comfortable." ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Credit: Sony Pictures Television
Author Diana Gabaldon didn't ever plan to publish Outlander. ๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿ˜ฒ

She explained: "Outlander was my practice book... I was never going to show it to anyone, so it didnโ€™t matter what I did with it." Credit: Getty Images
Diana Gabaldon's first Outlander novel was inspired by an episode of Doctor Who.

The writer says watching Frazer Hines, as the Doctor's companion Jamie McCrimmon, in The War Games influenced the character of Jamie Fraser. ๐Ÿ“บ Credit: BBC
Sam Heughan doesnโ€™t think Jamie should have gotten involved with Claire. ๐Ÿ’”

When asked what Jamie would tell his season one self if he could go back in time, Heughan said: "Donโ€™t go near her. Your life is going to be a mess. She just turns his world upside down." Credit: Publicity Picture
Diana Gabaldon's first impression of Sam Heughan was that he was 'grotesque'. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

But she quickly changed her mind when she saw his audition tape.

Diana said: "He was gone: it was just Jamie Fraser... He had the exact right combination of menace, sex, everything." ๐Ÿ’™ Credit: Getty

Traders are channelling Del Boy Trotter as they try to flog thousands of pieces of Queen's Platinum Jubilee crockery with an unfortunate misprint. ๐Ÿ‘‘

'Lovely Jubbly!' ๐Ÿ˜‚
Commemorative plates, mugs, cups and saucers printed with the words 'Platinum Jubbly' are being flogged for a knockdown price.

The gaffe is reminiscent of a storyline straight out of legendary comedy Only Fools and Horses. ๐Ÿ’ธ Credit: BBC
The mistake, made by a Chinese factory, is worthy of something dodgy dealer Del Boy would try to flog.

The typo is featured on 10,800 pieces of souvenir gear. ๐Ÿ˜ณ
