BREAKING: Health Canada has just notified TheraPsil and dozens of health care professionals seeking psilocybin access and training that their section 56 exemptions are to be denied. (1/ )

This will affect 1000+ health care professionals on our training waiting list and thousands of patients who are seeking help in applying for section 56 and SAP access to #psilocybin. (2/ )

This decision from @GovCanHealth lacks compassion and foresight. This is an issue of patient access and safety. By denying access, Health Canada is forcing patients and practitioners underground. (3/ )

Why has the government created 2 tiers of health care professionals? Why do some get access / exemptions while others are denied? This is against the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Section 15; equality rights) (5/ )

Most importantly… this is not about health care professionals, this is about patients who are treatment resistant and will suffer the consequences of this shortsighted decision. There will be consequences. (6/ )

The brunt of consequences will be faced by Canadians with mental illness who are seeking #psilocybin and will now be forced under ground. Our non-profit has been working to support patients for the past 2 years. Now, patients will remain unsupported by trained clinicians. (7/ )

We have been speaking with patients and health care professionals affected by this and will be supporting judicial reviews, and if needed, a charter challenge. (8 /)
