.@Fsfofficielle President @AugustinSengho2, on keeping faith with #TeamSenegal coach Aliou Cisse, who has taken them to a successive #AFCON2021 final. “I am convinced African Football will develop with the skills of its own children or [we] will never [do so],” he tells me today.
There has been heavy criticism of Cisse’s coaching style by many in Senegal, despite qualifying the Lions for their second @FIFAWorldCup appearance in 2018, as well as reaching the #AFCON2019 final, which he lost to Algeria.
@AugustinSengho2 continues: “We are now on the last path, leading to the #AFCON2021 trophy and I think it will be a strong message to the world if an African coach wins this edition.” I couldn’t agree more with him. What do you think?

I’ve just listened to an interview that #AFCON2021 Referee Janny Sikazwe had with a group of Zambian journalists, on his experience during the #teamMali v #TeamTunisia encounter, when his match judgement was impaired by heatstroke. “I could have died”, he told them.
Sikazwe: “The weather was so hot that day. The humidity was about 85%... After warming up [for the match] I felt the harsh conditions. Even after taking water, to cool down, it was if I hadn’t taken anything. But we (match officials) are soldiers and were ready to carry on.”
“At the end of the first half, we got to the dressing room early, before the person who had the keys to it...We decided to lie down & put our legs up, to relax. He then came and opened the door and we had some water & juice. It (the conditions) was something else.”

THREAD: The @NGSuperEagles secured maximum points from their #afcon2021Q qualifiers against Benin in Uyo & Lesotho in Maseru. @victorosimhen9 was the star of the show in Maseru. But does @Nigeria really want to know what went on behind the scenes? If you do, read on...
Do you know that the @NGSuperEagles players, coaches and staff are yet to receive their bonuses? Please ask @thenff why this is the case...
In Uyo, @thenff paid $14,000 each, to 16 out of the 23 @NGSuperEagles that were at #Afcon2019. They never paid any #afcon2021Q allowances to the other seven. So, after consultations with Captain @Ahmedmusa718, the 16 contributed $16k, which was given to the 7 to share.

As you all know, I’m British-Nigerian. For the first time, this year, during the 2019 AFCON, I entered Egypt using a Nigerian passport for the first (and LAST) time. Let’s compare both experiences... (THREAD)
When I entered EGYPT, for #Afcon2019, I had to pay $75 to get a visa on my Nigerian passport. And it takes days to get. To enter EGYPT on a UK passport, you get a visa on arrival and it costs $25, as usual. Why should an African pay far more than a European to visit Egypt?
Oh, and the difference in treatment as a Nigerian🇳🇬 , by Egyptian passport control officials, was very clear, when I came for the AFCON. I was not treated with the courtesy and respect that I usually get, when I come with my UK 🇬🇧 passport. WHY?

As I promised, I begin my thread on @Udinese_1896's @WTroostEkong and the defender's future in the @NGSuperEagles, after the #AFCON2019 in Egypt...
Let me first say, very clearly, that as far as @NGSuperEagles Manager Gernot Rohr is concerned, @WTroostEkong is a player that has never given him any difficulties: "I have never had any problems with William. He has always behaved properly, in my opinion," he told me in France.
BUT @WTroostEkong has a big problem with officials at the VERY TOP of @thenff, who see him as a disruptive influence, who has become increasing arrogant and disrespectful. I had discussions with TWO people at the VERY TOP of the organisation...

So, what really happened between @mikel_john_obi and @NGSuperEagles Gernot Rohr during the AFCON? How good was their relationship? And how did it affect the team? I’m about to explain things, so get ready for this thread...
After @mikel_john_obi’s top-grade performance with @Boro in the championship, it was thought that he would exhibit the same form during the #AFCON2019. But despite engaging a personal trainer after the season, Mikel’s physical conditioning dropped...
This was quite evident in Asaba, during the one-week I spent with the @NGSuperEagles, before they left for Egypt. But he was always going to be a part of the squad because Gernot sees him as integral to it, even when he’s not 100% fit.

Now, let me tell you all the story behind this rather animated shot I took... @PinnickAmaju came to the @NGSuperEagles camp to hand over $75,000 cash to the team, from sponsors @aiteogrp. And to give them a pep talk, ahead of tomorrow...
After this, @PinnickAmaju began to have a chat with Gernot Rohr, who demanded for a one-on-one conversation with @thenff President. After Rohr’s request, the team and entire staff were cleared out of the restaurant. You can see the look on Rohr’s face...
Both men had a conversation lasting up to about 35-40 minutes, just before Rohr attended the mandatory #AFCON2019 presser for the @BafanaBafana game. Do we really have to guess that hard about the issues on that table? 💵💰 And the fact that it was a very animated chat?🤔😀
