On Thursday evening, in #Lagos, #Nigeria, @Mathematical7 - Segun Odegbami, former @NGSuperEagles winger - and I drove, at his suggestion, to Oniru. He told me that a friend of his was putting up an a state-of-the-art photography exhibition centre there.

Breaking: The return #AFCON 2024 qualifier between the @AmavubiStars and #Benin’s Cheetahs, scheduled for Monday 27th March, hangs in the balance, over a venue dispute. @RChipenda, @CAF_Online’s Development Director, told @FERWAFA that as a result of inadequate facilities at the venue chosen in Rwanda for the return leg, the Amavubi will have to play their return leg game in Cotonou on Monday.

On 14th March, in #Kigali, #Rwanda, @MosengoOmba, the General Secretary of @CAF_Online, called me a “mercenaire” (mercenary) because of my journalism, which criticises, FACTUALLY, what is going wrong in CAF. I am going to ask him who the real mercenary in African football is. For the first time in the history of @CAF_Online, we have a General Secretary that is NOT the LEGAL national of any African country. Yes, he is of #DRC descent. But he has no legal citizenship of any country in #Africa. I will explain…

A history lesson for the people of #Lagos, as taught by Oba Rilwan Akiolu, about how Lagos came to be. Pay attention! Oba Akiolu: “Modern day Lagos was founded by Prince Ado, the son of the Oba of Benin, Prince Ado was the first Oba of Lagos, the son of the Bini King, Prince Ado, named the town Eko until the Portuguese explorer Ruy de Segueira changed the Maritime town to Lagos.”

An informed fan of @SheffieldUnited says @Dozymmobuosi is about to be named as the new owner of the club. “Announcement imminent”, he says. Hmmmmm. I have just spoken with a colleague that spent two hours with Dozy at a London hotel last week. He says he is yet to be convinced by the defence that Dozy gave to him.

It’s a big shame that #Rwanda, a smaller and far less resourced country than #Nigeria @Nigeria, the so-called “giant of Africa” 😂😏 has better, more sophisticated security checks at their major airport. I’ll explain… Before getting to the main #Kigali airport terminal, the major security checks are done. Cars taking passengers to the airport are put through an automatic car scanner, while the driver of the car and passengers go through their own checks, within the same zone.

A life lesson: About a week and half ago, at @PrinceEbeano supermarket in Lekki, I picked this up during my shop. It cost just over 4k Naija. Instead of putting in my shopping basket, I put it in my pocket & forgot it was there… Image I paid for everything else I picked up, except the key holder. When I went back to shop today & bought yet more stuff, I took a replica key-holder to the cashier & told them to use the barcode to charge me for the key-holder I took last time and didn’t pay for. She did just that.

This Tuesday, I spoke to a @CAF_Online executive committee member about the precarious financial situation hanging over the confederation, in which they must pay $50m to @Lagardere_SE_fr for breaking their marketing contract. This is what he said. ⬇️ “Osasu, I really want to avoid talking on these issues. But I really appreciate your concern. You have very good points and I personally want to talk to the @CAF_Online administration, about these very serious matters you’ve raised.”

An account, from @KeirRadnedge, former @WorldSoccerMag editor & @AIPSmedia football commission chair: “Late in the match at Lusail, colleagues up to the left of me started shouting for medical aid. Journos moved chairs so @GrantWahl could be laid down… “… A medical team was quickly on hand and must have spent up to half an hour of treatment, including perpetual CPR, before he was placed on a stretcher and carried out… It is very upsetting (this tragedy) particularly for those who were around him.”

As we have a second #Qatar2022 #FIFAWorldCup rest day, before the start of the QFs, it's a good time to provide a bit more details on the @CAF_Online #AfricaSuperLeague saga and what some CAF exco members thought about the plan, when it was presented to them... Image What I am reporting is based entirely on an eye-witness account of a @CAF_Online executive committee member, who was in the room, when the #AfricaSuperLeague presentation was made…

Well, after hearing from a @CAF_Online exco member on the deal, I have spoken to a source close to @Lagardere_SE_fr, with knowledge of the settlement and he had some interesting things of his own to say... "Have you seen the settlement documents? If you have not, don't take the figures that you have been told for granted." He insists that the settlement figures are higher than the $25 million I have been told, even though he refused to give me the exact figure.

Just had a chat with former @NGSuperEagles @VfB_int @VfLWolfsburg_EN & @HansaRostock forward @akpoborie, about Monday’s free surgeries in #Ozoro, Delta State, #Nigeria, by the team of doctors from Belgian NGO reVIVE, whom he brought to help the sick, who can’t afford treatment. .@MySoccerAfrica pundit @IdahPeterside, who is contesting for @thenff presidency, has described Friday’s Benin City congress venue as a “vast crime scene”, where the votes of congress members are being bought, by his rivals, for thousands of US Dollars. .@IdahPeterside: "The @officialEFCC must be here, the police must be here, to arrest some people. Economic crimes are happening here. People are carrying bags, full of dollars, in front of you and distributing it, with no shame..."

LEGAL NOTE: The claim @thenff can organise Friday's elections, because the Federal High Court injunction has been revoked, is dubious. NO ORDER, by any Appeal Court Judge, revoking the injunction, has been produced. ONLY a "Notice of Appeal" was filed on Wednesday. I have read the legal documents being circulated, as evidence of the revocation. As said, a "Notice of Appeal" and a request for a "Stay of Execution" was filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja, on 28th September. No Judge has heard this appeal or given any ruling.

From what I see, from the list of candidates for the presidency, first vice-presidency & other executive committee positions in @thenff, it is clear that political deals have been done underground, by Nigerian football’s principalities and powers. I will explain… (a thread) 1. They have clearly zoned the 1st Vice-Presidency of @thenff to the South-Eastern Zone, to ensure that no Southern candidate in the race can become president. In Nigeria’s geopolitics, the president and 1st VP cannot both come from South or North.
