Trans rights, especially those of trans youth, are under attack in the United States. Here's today's thread of updates 🧵
South Dakota HB1005 was read in the Senate and has been sent to the Judiciary Committee. This bill would mandate that public school sleeping areas, changing rooms and bathrooms be divided by "biological sex" only.
Arizona SB1165 has passed the Senate and moved onto the House. This is an anti-trans sports bill which would require all school athletics to be divided by "biological sex", with no guidance given on how "biological sex" is to be determined.
Arizona HB2294 has passed committee. This bill would require that any state documentation explicitly only have options for "male" or "female", prohibiting acknowledgement of nonbinary or intersex people.
Alabama SB184 was introduced and sent to the Healthcare Committee. This bill would prohibit "medical procedures intended to alter appearance of gender" for all minors in the state, forcibly detransitioning any currently transitioning children in Alabama.
Georgia SB435 was read and send to the Education and Youth Committee. This is an anti-trans sports bill that determines that athletic teams in schools must be determined by "biological sex" as determined by original birth certificates.
Tennessee has brought back HB0578 and sent it to the House Health Committee. This bill would ban all trans-affirming medical care unless both guardians have given signed permission, the child has two physician notes, one of which must be from a professional in child psychiatry.
This bill would include these stipulations as puberty blockers and also classifies any bottom surgeries for people assigned female at birth as "female genital mutilation".
Tennessee also introduced a new bill, HB2633, which would explicitly not require school professionals to use pronouns and names that do not correspond with a child's "biological sex", and would protect them from discrimination lawsuits for doing so.
Tennessee also introduced another new bill, HB2835, which is a ban on all trans-affirming medical care for minors. It also defines "minor" as someone who has not both reached the age of 18 and completion of Tanner stage 5 development.
Wyoming has officially joined our list of states of interest by introducing SF51, a bill that would require that all public schools, including universities, separate athletics based on "biological sex" as determined by original birth certificates.
Maryland has also joined our list of states of interest by introducing HB757, requiring school athletics to be divided based on "biological sex".
As always, it's not too late to stop these hateful bills. Please go to transformationsproject.org to learn more about bills in your state, contact your representatives and more to #StepUpForTransKids!

Tennessee SB2153 was filed, adding another bill to our watchlist. This bill would require that school athletics be divided based on "biological sex", which is to be determined by birth certificates.
Arizona HB2161 was put onto the consent calendar for a vote on the House Floor. This bill would expand parental authority to the point that it would force schools to out children to their parents. This is a threat to all queer children.

Trans rights, especially those of trans youth, are under attack in the United States. Here's a (thankfully short) thread of today's updates. 🧵
South Dakota HB1005 passed its hearing and will be moving to the House Floor for a general vote. This is a youth bathroom bill that would regulate that school children only utilize bathrooms according to their "biological sex", increasing harassment of trans and GNC youth.
Indiana HB1041 passed the House and has moved onto the Senate. This is an anti-trans sports bill, requiring that students participate in athletics according to "biological sex", with no method described as to how "biological sex" is to be determined, potentially leading to abuse.
