"Shitty person" is not a category protected under any civil rights statute or equal protection clause. So the political struggle has been to define who fits that category -- a struggle which the culturally hegemonic party has dominated completely since Trump's election.

Ever since November 2016 the political opposition has been an insurrectionary rabble in the eyes of that hegemonic party, even when it held all three branches of government...

The politics of morally policing contrary views out of circulation through administrative fiat that campus administrators perfected was easily translated to the domain of the tech monopolies after Trump's victory

First to deplatform the bad people, then to practice partisan politics under the guise of "fighting Russian disinformation" (the Hunter Biden story), now to simply push out anyone not on script who can be plausibly accused of endangering lives with heresy (Rogan)

Now wherever resistance to state mandates, regardless of how irrational or unscientific those mandates might be, is instantly portrayed as a menacing danger colluding with hate and violence

The vertically integrated messaging apparatus moves to cut off the oxygen to such movements by manufacturing consensus and pressuring those who enable it to pull away from it

Thus a merger of state and privatized power asserts a monopoly on virtue and truth and operationalizes it through the tech monopolies that control speech

Rogan grew to his size under the prior system; like Martin Luther, he may have become his own sovereign entity too big to completely purge without risking other worse consequences from the standpoint of the regime.

But the system now knows to nip any future figure in the bud.
