1/What's going on in Canada goes back (at least) to the "Wexit" separatist movement. Back in 2019, there was already talk of the growing resentment between the pro-oil western tar sands interests in Alberta and the Trudeau government.

2/Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, two of the principal organizers of the current trucker protest, were connected with the Maverick Party, a separatist movement in Canada seeking to break free of the Ottawa government.

3/Ezra Levant of Rebel News, a chief amplifier of the Ottawa protest, is a former Koch fellow and deeply associated with the oil sands network. He wrote a book called "Ethical Oil" shilling Alberta's dirty oil sands operation, in the Koch mold.

4/So this Ottawa thing is deeply connected to oil interests, and the Koch network and their longstanding gripes with the Trudeau government. Not just with Justin, but going back to his father, Pierre. Take a look.

5/This deep seated resentment is well-known to Levant and his network of alt-right provocateurs. We see now the convergence of these pro-oil forces being used to spawn similar movements across the US, Europe, and elsewhere. And the Canadian effort is getting funds from elsewhere.

6/Now hyper-libertarian candidate Pierre Poilievre has swooped in out of nowhere with support from Bitcoin fanatics wanting to challenge Trudeau as PM—even though Poilievre has not yet even secured his own party leadership.

7/The overlap between crypto, oil, and libertarian longstanding conflicts here is what's important. Say it with me: this set of conflicts *predates COVID*. Masks, mandates, have nothing to do with it. This is about taking advantage of the situation as part of Putin's war.
